The Wind and Wilting Blossom changes
When we started working 4ish years ago on a little game about Japanese mythology and a period in Japanese history that's often unexplored, we had no idea what to expect in terms of players, support, and response. As of this writing, we’ve tracked nearly 2000 runs in 1.0! Through Early Access and now into Full Release, your bug hunting, feedback, and kind words have made this small, part-time team incredibly happy.
The story of The Wind and Wilting Blossom is far from over - we have a slew of content updates planned for the coming months. It’s worth nothing that we may juggle a few of these items around based on feedback, but broadly speaking, this is what’s next.
First things first - we have a small update coming in the next week focused primarily on tackling a couple of launch day bugs, but let’s get to the fun stuff:
1.1 Yokai, Yokai, Yokai Our first major update will feature new yokai enemies, mostly in the early game. More variety early is critical, since the starting regions are what players see most frequently. We'll also implement a Bestiary that provides information on encountered enemies, their abilities, and a bit of lore.
1.2 The Bones There is a certain boney beast whose absence looms large in the current endgame. He’ll be coming in this update to terrorize the party. We also have a healthy backlog of new Events to implement, and we’ll include 25+ here.
1.3 Party Time The third major update will add two Allies and a new Leader (with, of course, three distinct layouts).
1.4 Bosses We're in the very early stages of a boss system overhaul to accommodate multiple, randomized bosses at each Boss Story location. This will necessitate some light story changes to provide hints on which Boss to plan for in a particular Region.
We'll continue to sprinkle in some new Events with each update, and we have at least a half dozen new Weapons planned as well - with a focus on providing more variety among Ammo and Support types. Of course, you can also expect more achievements, bug fixes, balance tweaks, and quality of life improvements through each of the updates.
Thanks again for your support and encouragement.
