The Walking Trade changes
WELCOME TO HELL!
One of the largest complaints of reaching the end of the city I’ve seen is that raids are no longer encountered once all the bosses are defeated. Well, I’m happy to announce that the bosses have brushed off their bruises and are back for revenge! Welcome Hellraids - endless, pre-determined raids that get increasingly difficult. On top of this, today’s update also delivers a healthy amount of fixes and other improvements. Read more in the depths below…
Hellraids
Endless raids are here! Once you have defeated all of the standard boss raids you will then begin to see Hellraids automatically. Hellraids are incrementally more difficult than the last and failing a Hellraid will mean you can reattempt it in the future. The raid difficulty is increased by more enemies spawning, multiple bosses simultaneously and eventually higher health pools.
Hellraids should automatically start on any save that has already defeated the bosses. If this does not happen please let me know!
For those with a taste for blood, a broken radio tower has been added outside the carpark. Fixing this up into a Siren and pressing it will make the current revealed raid always start the day after it is pressed.
3 new achievements have been added for defeating a certain # Hellraid (1, 10, 25).
Features
Added an Unstuck button to the pause menu. Pressing this will teleport your player safely back to your bedroom after 5 seconds of no combat. Once unstuck, you must wait another 5 minutes before using this feature again.
Working TV’s can now be turned on and off. When on, they will display the global Steam leaderboard for the highest Hellraid defeated.
Bug Fixes
Service workers will no longer try to place a basket item on the basket stand upgrade preview.
Cycling, equipping or replacing melee weapons on the action bar will now cancel any charged throw.
Fixed an issue causing Tumour zombies not to explode after long play sessions.
Fixed an issue causing the extra raid rewards skill to be wildly too excessive.
Improvements
Customers are now more likely to buy items that are discounted.
Customers should no longer immediately leave the store if you have some stock to browse, despite having little interest in it.
Slightly improved NPC pathfinding inside the hospital room.
Working TV’s can now be mounted on walls.
Optimised blood effect spawning when mobs take damage.
Improved the hit detection on RPG projectiles.
Reduced the distance NPCs will travel in the fog, improving pathfinding and preventing stuck mobs.
Changes
Reduced the damage of the Rocket Launcher explosion from 200 to 100.
Increased value of the Modded Nail Gun to be more than its combined crafting components.
Increased the Sniper Rifle’s staff Combat Power to be more in-line with similarly deadly weapons.
Moved the Skip/Dumpster closer to the wall to prevent players getting stuck.
Time will stop at 7PM during a raid, continuing again once the raid has been defeated. Players are able to sleep at 7PM if they would like to concede defeat in the raid without dying.
Bosses will no longer be caught in Bear Traps.
Bosses will no longer be slowed by Barbed Wire. They will still take damage while passing.
What’s Next?
As Hellraids are essentially the ‘end-game’ system for the combat enjoyers out there, I’m cooking up more substantial features for the shop sim enjoyers once you reach the back half of the city. This will drop later in April! On top of this, I’m still working on a lot of the commonly requested quality of life features players have been asking for. As a lot of these are no longer straight up fixes, they do take a little time in the oven so thank you for your patience! Finally, I'm also going to be looking at ways of making staff members more durable, potentially via skill points and/or upgrade items, so they can actually be of some use during raids without fear they'll be killed in one shot.
If you notice any new bugs or any of the bugs listed above are not actually fixed please let me know via the community Discord!
Thanks again, Adam
