The Walking Trade - Patch v1.1.5
Controller Support
The Walking Trade now officially supports controllers! You can freely switch between mouse and keyboard or controller at any time and the game’s interface will react accordingly. We support Xbox, PlayStation, Switch controllers and Steam Deck out the gate.
- Aim AssistWhen using a controller the game will use aim assist and some magnetism to help guide you to interactions and combat threats. By default, combat aim assist is turned on which will help aim both melee and projectile weapons based on the weapon’s range. This will only assist towards mobs that are considered a threat (zombies or customers attacking you). Interaction aim assist is disabled by default, but if you feel you are having trouble navigating small items in the world, this setting may help.
- SensitivityGlobal controller sensitivity and Y inversion options have been added to the Controls settings panel. These have been decoupled from the mouse sensitivity and inversion settings.
- Remappinga controller column has been added to the control mapper in the settings. This will allow you to rebind the controller buttons as you like. These settings are saved per controller device.
On-Screen Keyboard: when using Steam’s Big Picture Mode or Steam Deck, an on-screen keyboard will appear when needed for inputting text. For players not using Big Picture Mode you will need to use your keyboard as before.
- Vibration/RumbleBy default, controllers will rumble throughout the game for combat and interactions. Settings have been added to turn this off entirely, turn it off for just combat or interactions, or tune it individually via strength sliders.
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue causing the game to feel slow-motion at lower frame rates.
Improvements
Camera look speed is no longer coupled with frame rate resulting in smoother aiming across all frame rates.
Improved Spanish localization.
Increased some small font sizes across the game to help legibility across a range of screens and resolutions.
Changes
Sprinting is now pushed to activate rather than hold across all input devices. This feels much better on the controller and has been requested a lot by the community for keyboard players too.
What’s Next?
Once any issues with controller support have been ironed out, I will be focused on the late Summer’s major content update: Rooftop Farming. As this starts to grow and become ready for public consumption I will be sharing updates via the community Discord. 🧑🌾🌱
Thanks again, Adam
