❓ Player FAQ
Q1: Is this just another Octopath Traveler clone? A: We take that as a compliment. Octopath Traveler set a visual benchmark, and we aim to push it further. The Severed Gods is built around height-based tactical combat, brutal Titan boss fights where you can literally tear gods apart, and a world that evolves with your decisions. We’re inspired by classics, but this is our own myth, darker, sharper, and strategically deeper.
Q2: Is the combat just turn-based… or something more? A: Turn-based is only the beginning. Combat in The Severed Gods revolves around a Height-Based Tactical System, where terrain, elevation, and the way you dismantle Titans reshape the entire battlefield. Bring down a leg and the Titan collapses, shifting positions, opening new attack angles, and forcing both sides to adapt. On top of that, a roguelike layer packed with builds and evolving choices gives every run a fresh strategic path to explore.
Q3: When can we actually play it? A: You’ll get your first hands-on experience during Steam Next Fest in February. We’re preparing a special vertical slice where you’ll face your first Titan. Wishlist the game → so you don’t miss it!
Q4: Is this a JRPG or something else? A: We love JRPGs, their storytelling energy is a huge inspiration, but The Severed Gods walks its own path. It blends JRPG-style narrative with tactical boss-hunting intensity and a Perma-Death system that makes every battle genuinely high-stakes. There’s no endless grinding here; progression is about strategy, not repetition. Every encounter matters.
Q5: Why did that NPC suddenly betray the hero in the trailer?! A: Good catch! That wasn’t a scripted twist, it was the consequence of the hero’s past actions. In this world, the things you do don’t disappear. We call this hidden layer Karma, and it remembers.
May this update give you a deeper sense of our journey, where The Severed Gods is heading, and how far we’ve come. Thank you for walking this path with us.
