Community Deep Dive #2 Who are Katherine and Ava?

Hello to everyone who has been with us for a while and a huge welcome to all the people who just discovered the game!

It’s been a VERY busy month for the team, but it was all worth it to officially release our brand new trailer during the Future Games Show:

It's been incredibly overwhelming (in the best way possible 😉) to see all the excitement for The Road of Dust and Sorrow in the past couple months.

You've already met our brave protagonists in the demo (which is temporarily back right now!) and in both of our trailers.

But today, we want to give you a more in-depth look at this mother-daughter duo:

Katherine is a woman in her mid-30s with a rough, hardened demeanour, forged by the relentless brutality of this post-apocalyptic hell. Before the collapse, she was a country girl working on her family's farm. She had a fiancée named Mark who tragically fell victim to dusters.

Now, she is driven by a fierce, almost controlling obsession to protect Ava from all evils. To Katherine, the world is a hostile wasteland, and her only mission is to ensure Ava's survival so they can one day find a safe haven.

Shielded behind her mother, 12-year old Ava represents the fragile hope they are fighting for. Raised almost entirely on the road in a customized campervan, the girl holds onto a desperate, inspiring optimism. While Katherine views the world as a place to merely survive, Ava dreams of exploring it.

She aspires to become an artist to inspire hope in the remaining survivor communities, idolizing pre-collapse street artists like Banksy and wishing to leave her mark on the ruined cities.Steam post image
