Hey everyone!

Version 1.1 is well underway and we decided to release an early patch of this new version to people who want to try it out!

Installation instructions:

This patch will go on the "experimental" branch of the game. You need to own the game to play it. To install it you need to:

  • Open your Steam library

  • Right click the game in your game's list

  • Click Properties

  • Click Game Versions & Betas

  • Toggle the "experimental" version.

The game will update before you start the game.

You can always go back to the official version but NOTE: saves created using the experimental branch may not run properly in the official 1.0 version.

If you don't think the game updated, you can check the version in the game's credits (button in the main menu).

Patch notes for 1.1.5

Here are the patch notes for what is going in 1.1 so far:

New mechanics:

  • Districts & civicsThe island is now split into districts defined through a new building: the district center. Each districts boost a different category of work and the player must fulfil the district's demands to improve cultural production
  • New horizonsAfter playing through the tutorial once, new saves will take place on a different island. These islands are procedurally generated and present their own set of challenges.

Gameplay

  • Added museum: Similar to the excavation site in that it is boosted by nearby ruins but it is a place of leisure, not work

  • Added clerical library: Smaller version of the seminary that is not unique

  • All places of leisure are unlocked rather than only one being available to the player

  • Removed the "democracy" or "autocracy" choice: The forum both produces culture AND unlocks policies

  • Increased the capacity of the last two tiers of houses so they are actually better in terms of density than the tier 3 house

  • The "God fearing" and "Stakhanovite" achievement (respectively the full attendance and full employment achievements) require 1000 subjects rather than just 500

Quality of life & Performance

  • Starting a new save and skipping the tutorial also skips the prologue and has the player make era 1 choices right away

  • Added a 5th graphics option"High" Becomes "Highest", "Normal" becomes "High" and a new "Normal" setting is introduced with less post-processing effects so the normal mode is less performance intensive. "Fast" and "Low" stay roughly the same

Visually improved elements

  • Trees

  • Subjects

  • Pavement

  • Awnings

  • Broad changes to the world's overall color correction

  • Cliff edges

  • Rocky ground

  • Darker and less blue shadows

  • Lianas on cliff sides

Bug fixes

  • Don't show item text bumps in creative mode

  • Item gain text over subjects looks sharper + Cleaner in chinese, japanese and korean

  • Lunch place overlay now more accurate

  • The entire world is unlocked in creative mode

  • Added further failsafes to prevent the camera from going out of bounds

Next step before the official release of 1.1

The version is very close to done. The main remaning bits I want to address are:

  • Building visuals: Basically a bit of polish on the building's textures and visual presentation (better bricks, more variety, ...)

  • Some small performance improvements so that the "Normal" graphics settings runs as smoothly as possible

  • Address any remaining issues. Any feedback is greatly appreciated and will help make this new version the best!

Enjoy! And as always you can join our discord to chat with us or leave us any bit of feedback you want https://discord.gg/vdpcGMf4Nj
