The Last Night: Zombie Attack changes
Major Play test Update: Welcome to Level 7!
Welcome Hunters!,
A massive new update has just dropped for The Last Night: Zombie Attack! For the past week, we have been working around the clock to completely overhaul the engine, fix critical editor instability issues, and build our most ambitious environment yet.
Get ready to drop into Level 7: The Abandoned Railway.
🚂 What’s New in Level 7?
The claustrophobic hallways are gone. You are stepping into a massive, multi-layered underground transit terminal designed to test your survival instincts to the absolute limit.
Staggering Real-Time Scale: Explore an enormous subterranean graveyard featuring full-scale, 5-carriage steam trains stretched across parallel tracks.
True 3D Geometry: Built from the ground up with incredible industrial detail, down to individual physical wooden ties and dual steel rails. Watch your corners—your flashlight shadows will interact dynamically with the environment.
Vertical Survival Gameplay: The floor is a death trap. Scale ladders, navigate precarious overhead catwalks, and sprint across the roofs of the train carriages to evade the horde.
- Dynamic Route RandomizationOur brand-new runtime layout shuffler is officially online! The environment blocks off different pathways, relocates critical drop-down zones, and scatters key escape items completely randomly every single match. No two runs will ever feel the same.
- Advanced AI NavigationThe Ghost Conductor has been fully integrated into Level 7's new layout. With advanced runtime pathfinding, he will actively track your movements, look for flashlight beams, and hunt you through the pitch-black gaps between the trains.
🔧 Fixes & Engine Optimizations
Alongside the new level, we’ve executed a massive behind-the-scenes cleanup to make the game run smoother than ever:
Stability Pass: Upgraded core systems to resolve fatal file system and compiler bugs that were causing editor crashes.
- FOV Layout FixCorrected camera rendering properties to handle horizontal field-of-view tracking smoothly in massive environments.
NavMesh Re-Baking: Optimised the zombie pathfinding grids to calculate instantly at runtime, ensuring smooth enemy movement across shifting obstacles.
Thank you all for the incredible support during this development journey. Grab your flashlight, watch the tracks, and see if you can survive the night!
