THE IRONY changes
Steam post image Hello, this is Kim Gun-yong, Director of THE IRONY.
It’s been a while since our last update.
Right now, we’re fully focused on development as we prepare the demo planned for release in Q2 2026. This demo won’t just be “more content” or “better art” — we’re also aiming for major improvements and changes to core gameplay systems.
Because the game has changed so much, we’d like to run an additional playtest before the demo release, so we can gather feedback once again.
Here’s what’s new in this upcoming playtest:
More refined animations and more varied enemy behaviors
Added aiming to shooting, plus a locational damage / dismemberment system, resulting in more diverse enemy patterns
Improvements to some art resources
New intro content, plus additional direction and cutscenes
Added audio logs
UI improvements
A lot has changed, but the biggest difference you’ll feel is the combat.
Unlike the previous version where enemies could be dealt with more simply, enemies will now block, counterattack, and pursue you far more aggressively. To survive, you’ll need to exploit weaknesses through aimed shots, and properly mix melee combat with shooting depending on the situation.
Many players asked for aiming and locational damage in the last playtest, so we hope this refreshed playtest delivers a much more enjoyable experience.
Alongside the playtest, we’ll also be releasing a new trailer.
The trailer will premiere on February 3, 00:00 (UTC). The playtest will go live on February 6, 00:00 (UTC).
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
