Season Zero
As noted above, Season Zero’s gameplay features, systems, and improvements are free for all current ESO players (with the only exceptions being the Tamriel Tome premium options and ESO Plus additions). Learn a little more about them below! Dragonknight Class and Two Handed Skill Line Refresh Breathe fire and swing your mightiest weapons anew with major reworks done to the abilities, animations, VFX, and audio for both the Dragonknight class and Two Handed skill line. These changes arrived in March with Update 49 and can now be experienced by all those who walk the path of flame and fury. Steam post image Reignite your Dragonknight Learn more about the Dragonknight ability refresh in this preview blog and more about the animation, VFX, and sound refresh here. Update 49 Player Experience Improvements Enjoy free in-UI respecs, a new selection of gold-purchasable mounts, and many more improvements to your core game experience with this first wave of player-focused changes and additions from the Player Experience team. Delve deeper into these base-game improvements in this blog. Gold Coast Bazaar Spend Trade Bars (earned via in-game activities and Tamriel Tomes) to unlock a wealth of returning rewards via the Gold Coast Bazaar, a new in-game store that expands your choices when it comes to in-game collectibles. The Bazaar initially opened on March 25, but it now stocks seasonal items with the launch of Season Zero. You can discover some of the items found in the Bazaar this Season in this preview blog. Tamriel Tomes—Tome of Dawn and Dusk ESO ’s first-ever Tamriel Tome is here! Complete challenges to earn Tome Points and unlock pages, then spend those points on whatever rewards you desire. The Tome of Dawn and Dusk is available from April 2 until July 8, 2026, and it features a wealth of free options for all players, including consumables, currencies, furnishings, and collectibles. Steam post image Upgrade your Tome for more rewards For those who’d like to choose from even more options, the Tamriel Tomes Premium and Premium + Bonus options are also available for purchase and include a host of additional collectibles and other rewards. The Premium + Bonus option also grants you two caches of Tome Points (for faster progression) and the Raynor’s Traveling Robes costume. To learn more about Tamriel Tomes, check out this guide. To discover some of the rewards you can unlock and claim in the Tome of Dawn and Dusk, visit this preview blog. Night Market Event Zone The first of its kind, the Night Market is a challenging new PvE zone located within the Oblivion realm of Fargrave. Available from Wednesday, April 29 until June 17, 2026, the Night Market will not always be accessible to Tamriel’s adventurers. However, the zone will return in later Seasons. Steam post image Face new dangers in ESO’s first event zone Within the Night Market, you must pledge your services to one of three factions while overcoming the zone’s myriad dangers. In this new PvE experience, you will discover new characters, quests, and stories while unlocking a host of unique new rewards, including an all-new manor-sized home. Good luck! Update 50 Player Experience Improvements The next wave of player experience improvements arrives June 8 with Update 50. Its base-game additions include a guild mail system, special Golden Pursuits campaigns for new and returning players under level 20, the proliferation of transmute stations to a host of major crafting hubs, and more. Veterancy System Veterancy is a new progression system for ESO’ s various PvP modes (Battlegrounds, Alliance War, and Imperial City) that allows you to earn levels that in turn grant various rewards, including Vengeance campaign perks and account-wide cosmetics and titles. Reach max Veterancy rank during the first PvP season (which lasts approximately six months), and you'll have unlocked a new armor style, weapon style, and two skill styles! Steam post image Seize glory in ESO’s PvP modes Look for more information about the Veterancy system in the coming weeks before it arrives with Update 50 on June 8. Class Mastery Abilities A new way for Tamriel’s warriors to stay true to their class, Class Mastery introduces a host of passive abilities that you can choose from for your “pure” (as in, not subclassed) character. Each class will receive five new abilities, but only two may be active at any one time. You choose your mastery! These new options arrive on June 8 with Update 50. Werewolf Skill Line Refresh The combat refresh team continues their work via a series of tweaks, fixes, and improvements to the Werewolf skill line’s abilities, animations, VFX, and sound. These additions include a unique Werewolf model if your character is female! Look for these changes to take place upon the full moon when Update 50 arrives on June 8. Challenge Difficulty System One of ESO ’s most player-requested features arrives with Update 50! The Challenge Difficulty system allows you to tailor the difficulty of your overland and quest content to your preference. The greater the challenge, the greater the rewards! Note that the difficulty you choose will not stop you from adventuring with your fellow heroes or allies either, meaning that everybody can play their way. Steam post image Play your desired challenge level The first iteration of Challenge Difficulty arrives with Update 50 on June 8 (with further improvements planned in the future). For more on this new system, check out this deep dive blog. In-Game Events and Golden Pursuits Campaigns In addition to all the above, you can enjoy a host of in-game events and supporting Golden Pursuits campaigns throughout Season Zero. These include the now-live Anniversary Jubilee event and the upcoming Welcome to the Night Market Golden Pursuits campaign. Look out for details on future events and campaigns in the not-too-distant future.
