The Book of Plagues changes
Today, I want to explain a little bit about the plot and ending of the game (no spoilers!). I hope this information will help those who are completely lost in the dark alleys of Ludwig City.
The ending of the game consists of six key storylines that determine the final picture of the world after completion. Here's how they work:
Number of survivors after the epidemic:
Depends on the edicts you pass. Their effectiveness directly affects how many residents you can save. There are five possible outcomes, ranging from near-total extinction to the salvation of the majority. Edicts can lead to unexpected consequences - it's worth keeping that in mind... Where to find details: In the Book, you will find an explanation of why things turned out the way they did and how many citizens survived your decision...
The cannibal story:
It depends on whether you managed to reveal the cannibal's identity and how you dealt with him. There are two possible outcomes: the cannibal is either alive or dead. If you figured him out, you can simply refuse to treat him (or even poison him) - the Inquisition will take care of the rest.
Outcome of the knightly tournament:
It depends on your help to the young squire, who is constantly getting injured and being rude. There are two possible outcomes: he either becomes a knight or suffers defeat. The quest is difficult, and you may not want to help him, but his fate depends on your choice.
The fate of the Poor People's Guild:
Depends on your actions after the visit of its leader. If you cure him, the guild will get a seat in the Magistrate, but then attempts to eliminate their representative will begin. There are two outcomes: victory or defeat for the guild.
What happened to the Cult of the Last Kiss:
It depends on your decisions in the quest that begins with a visit from Sister Mercy. Ten different endings! This is the most branching and confusing story in the game. You can even arrange for the Heresiarch himself to come for treatment, and then finish him off. Or let the cult grow - it's up to you.
The ending of the Scientist Doctor himself:
It depends on the reputation you have earned during the game. Five different epilogues reflect how the city will remember your actions...
In addition to the main quests, the game features many additional storylines and events that change the cityscape:
Not schemes, but a web of stories: 27 quest chains create your unique playthrough...
I've always loved creating simple schemes. Here's one such scheme. This is the “Drunken Escapades” quest chain. Each scheme is not a linear list, but a living web of plot, consequences, and intertwined fates. They affect different characters, factions, and key events in the city. New Game+ mode is not just a walkthrough with a stronger hero. It's a chance to see how alternative decisions in familiar schemes reveal the plot from a new, sometimes unexpected angle...
