Who will enjoy this game?

Who is The Book of Plagues intended for? I asked myself this question many times during development, and now I think I'm ready to answer it. You'll like it if: You like it when decisions have weight.

Who is The Book of Plagues intended for? I asked myself this question many times during development, and now I think I'm ready to answer it. You'll like it if:

  • You like it when decisions have weight. There will be no “wrong” choices here. There will only be a chronicle of your actions, successes, and failures, which will change the final picture of the city.

  • You hate death as a “punishment” in story-driven games. Here, you won't be thrown back to a checkpoint for failing. Life and death in the world of the plague are part of the story, not a failure in the game.

  • You are no stranger to dark settings. This is the Middle Ages - dirty, cruel, and ruthless. If you are ready to face it without embellishment, this is the place for you!

This does not mean that your failures are final! Each week of game time can be replayed to correct an unfortunate outcome.

But is it worth it? New Game+ mode opens up another path. In it, you'll keep all your unlocked recipes and accumulated coins, but you'll get a chance to completely rewrite history — correct old mistakes and make different decisions.

To meet all the characters and see all the content, even two playthroughs may not be enough. Is it worth obsessing over a perfect first run when the most interesting consequences await you ahead?
