In order to remove the confusion around the story and what people believed to be the main character the game origin is being tweaked to clear up confusion.
The original three origin characters were used when the game first reached early access before all the new classes. The intent was to mix up the characters and provide a ramp way into the game. The only major intent was to get everyone up to speed with the game quickly and not overwhelm everyone starting with a small party size. Due to this, the team creator option will still limit the initial party to 3 characters. The game ramps up difficult with more members and for those starting out they have proven how difficult that is based on stats and data collected so giving a full party at least right now won't be an option. I may provide the means after a crisis has been completed as an unlock for future gameplay but I'll investigate and see how things go.
The flexibility will remain though to choose any of the classes and character set up as you wish. If you want to just have a full party of warlocks? Go for it. This could be done previously but now it will be a little more obvious.
The character creator will remain however so you can customize one character's stats and change some of the world elements as well.
Speaking of the world elements, the world crisis feature is coming into the game now. This is the "main quest" that many are familiar with. A lot of the game in early access has been just the side events and events to a fill out the world as you progress. The world crisis is going to be the central theme where events play out over a few of the in-game months. If you ignore the events the world will get even more dangerous over time.
Above is a sneak peak of some of the crisis entering the game that can be chose which you may be able to infer like undead threats and demonic entities, but yes "there be dragons" coming as well. This has been fleshed out over the last few weeks/months so hoping to get these in soon and clean up the UI a bit as well in doing so.
The next update will likely have some of this showing alone with some new UI windows to help track the progress of it as it unfolds. I've tried to avoid impacting save files while all of these elements have been implemented but there may be some oddities here and there as you may be VERY overpowered for the initial weeks on an older save. Thanks again for all of your patience.
