Tabletop Tavern changes
Lots of work on spells this week. Going to be focused on the 1.1 update for a bit but will still push updates for any bugfixes or minor improvements I make
Enemy AI: Smarter Target Priority
Enemy squads will no longer chase a single fast unit around the battlefield forever
This applies to melee, archers, and artillery alike. You can no longer "leash" an entire enemy army with one lone skirmisher while the rest of your force sits safe.
A unit that just shook off its pursuers gets a short window of breathing room before enemies will commit to chasing it again, so kiting is still useful as a tactic, just no longer an infinite exploit.
Archers and artillery are also quicker to switch their aim to a genuinely closer or more dangerous target, rather than stubbornly firing at whatever they locked onto first.
Improvements
Slight increase to performance by rewriting the save system. Should stutter a bit less on older hardware
Reworked the new “sold gear wont appear again” to reset after every shop visit (thanks for the feedback on this one)
Updated Chinese translations
Bug Fixes
Fixed bug with Tavern Themes requiring a reload after unlocking by beating Godking
Fixed a crash caused by entering swamps with a race condition in the code
Fix to make sure flags rotate even when paused
Fixed bug with tavern patrons disappearing
Fix for free camera canvas not showing when hitting tab
Modding: Custom Text & Translations
Mods can now override any in-game text with a new `localization_overrides.json` file. Rename or re-translate anything the game shows, per language (English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean).
This includes the names of hero and faction battle bonuses, so custom bonuses can finally have their own custom names instead of borrowing an existing hero's.
Text you don't translate falls back to the game's built-in wording, so a mod that only covers one language still works everywhere.
Modding Guide Updates
The example mod now includes every hero and faction bonus as a complete, copy-and-edit reference, so you can see exactly what each hero and faction grants before changing it.
Added full documentation and a working example for the new text-override file.
Clarified that faction bonuses use flat values.
