In Synclit, emotions aren’t just narrative flavor — they form the foundation of your deck.
Inspired by psychologist Paul Ekman’s theory of six basic emotions, every card carries an emotional imprint.
Instead of treating them as abstract psychology, Synclit reframes them as functional signals within a hidden cognitive architecture.
The system is built around six core emotional signals: Fear, Joy, Anger, Disgust, Sadness, and Surprise. Steam post image
These emotions are directly encoded into punch cards and define how your deck functions. They determine how cards behave in combat, how effects interact, and how your strategy evolves during a run.
Some emotions drive aggression. Others reinforce stability, introduce volatility, or reshape your deck in unexpected ways.
As you move through the constructed mind, you don’t simply acquire abilities — you recalibrate the emotional forces that shape your strategic approach.
You can modify not only your deck, but also the emotional circuitry that powers it.
As you explore the subconscious, you don’t just collect abilities — you reshape emotional experiences that become part of your strategy.
You can changes your deck and the emotional structure behind it.
