Until now, we've explored the cities, the art of crafting, and the vast world of Sword & Shield Simulator. But today, we turn the spotlight to the heart of our story.
Meet Richard.
A Blacksmith's Son
Richard is not a legendary warrior, nor was he ever destined to be a hero.
He is a young craftsman, shaped by years of study in the distant city of Vicoreda. Yet when word reaches him that his homeland is under siege, he wastes no time returning to Danburg.
There, he receives a letter from John Wheelock, an old friend of his father.
The news shatters him.
Richard's father, Conrad, the master blacksmith of Danburg, disappeared during the war.
Driven by resolve, Richard steps into his father's shoes at the family forge. But soon, he uncovers a truth far more sinister than anyone could have imagined.
Conrad wasn't killed in battle.
He was captured by the Order of the Black Swords and taken prisoner to the occupied city of Talstein.
From that moment, Richard's path transforms from a struggle to survive into a quest to rescue his father.
Allies and Enemies
No one survives a war alone.
Along his journey, Richard will cross paths with figures who will shape not only his destiny but the fate of Danburg itself.
John Wheelock
A respected merchant and Conrad's longtime friend.
He welcomes Richard back to Danburg, entrusts him with the family forge, and helps him rebuild during the war's difficult first days.
The Mayor of Danburg
A determined leader who refuses to abandon his people.
Despite overwhelming odds, he continues to defend the city and eventually gives Richard permission to venture deep into occupied territory in search of answers.
Arturs Hammerhand
A master blacksmith from Talstein.
Although he officially works for the Order of the Black Swords, he secretly sabotages their war effort by supplying weakened weapons while smuggling high-quality steel to the resistance.
Black Hand
The ruthless governor of Talstein and one of the Order's most feared commanders.
Suspicious, calculating, and protected by heavy plate armor, he stands between Richard and his father's freedom.
The Rat
The legendary leader of Talstein's Thieves Guild and the underground resistance.
It is The Rat who helps Richard organize the assault on the citadel where Conrad is being held, becoming one of his most valuable allies in the fight against the Order.
Richard's tale is not one of instant heroism.
It is the story of a son fighting to save his father, a blacksmith defending his home, and an ordinary man rising to face an extraordinary foe.
His journey starts at the forge.
Where it ends... will depend on the choices you make.
Early Access Is Almost Here
After months of development, countless improvements, and your valuable feedback during the playtests, we're finally approaching the next major milestone.
We're excited to announce that we're planning to launch Sword & Shield Simulator in Early Access during the second weekend of August.
There's still work ahead of us, but we're looking forward to opening the forge doors and continuing to develop the game together with our community.
We'll share the exact release date very soon. Stay tuned!
