Today's devlog is a little different.

Rather than unveiling a new location or story twist, we’re excited to present a brand-new Developer Test Map crafted just for the upcoming playtests.

Behind the scenes, we often tinker with simplified test spaces to perfect new mechanics before they reach the main game. Now, we’re inviting you into that process: this new map brings together many of Sword & Shield Simulator’s core systems in one compact, hands-on playground.

Our mission is clear: give you the freedom to explore every aspect of the gameplay loop, no barriers attached.

The Blacksmith's Playground

On this map, you’ll find the entire production chain for crafting weapons and tools from start to finish.

You'll have access to:

  • The Smelter for recycling materials and creating alloys

  • The Blacksmith Furnace for forging equipment

  • The Chisel Station for sword shaping and dismantling

From the very beginning, you’ll have everything you need to dive into the crafting systems and start experimenting.

Lockpicking Practice Area

Eager to become a lockpicking pro before braving the full adventure?

The testing grounds feature multiple doors with different lock difficulties, allowing you to learn the mechanics and improve your skills without risking a trip to prison.

Resource Gathering Zone

Mining and resource gathering are at the heart of your journey forward.

The map includes deposits of:

  • Coal

  • Iron Ore

  • Cupronickel

Just a short walk away, a small forest awaits, where you can fell marked trees and transform them into planks at the sawmill.

Shield Workshop

You’ll also get hands-on with the brand-new modular shield crafting system.

Forge shield bosses, craft reinforcements, gather your materials, and piece together complete shields from scratch.

Just remember — you'll still need leather, so a hunting trip may be necessary first.

Merchant Stations

To keep your focus on testing and discovery, special merchants are stationed throughout the map.

These traders stockpile generous supplies of resources, fuel, and tools, so you can leap straight into crafting without the usual grind.

We Need Your Feedback

We’re eager to hear which mechanics feel rewarding, which systems could use a tweak, and what changes you’d love to see before launch.

Your feedback will shape the future of Sword & Shield Simulator.

We can’t wait to see the creations you bring to life on our testing grounds.
