Survivors of Mayhem changes
Todays update is a HUUUUGE optimization patch. As with every update on this scale it might cause issues but so far my testing looks good. If you encounter any problems or weirdness again please let me know.
Optimization Changes:
Removed Navmesh.SamplePosition calls: 25% performance boost in CPU reduction
Caching player.transform.position for enemy destinations: ~20% performance boost in CPU reduction
Decreased navMeshUpdateSpeed by .15 sec: ~15% performance boost in CPU reduction
Replaced animator strings with hash strings: ~7% performance boost in CPU reduction
The game should be snappier, use less CPU and just run smoother overall now. It was pretty smooth before but this will definitely help some of the players with older hardware plus this will give me the ability to scale up the amount of enemies. Right now the game is soft capped at 50 for gameplay / balance issues. I'd like to have levels later on with more enemies and this will allow me to scale up to the hundreds, or close to a thousand. :)
