Subnautic Raider changes
A new enemy ship has been added to Subnautic Raider: the Bangor-class minelayer.
Unlike standard convoy ships, this vessel is designed specifically to create long-term environmental danger for submarines operating in shallow waters.
Its primary role is not direct combat.
Instead, the Bangor-class minelayer deploys magnetic naval mines to reshape the battlefield itself and restrict safe underwater movement.
🔹 A Different Kind of Threat
Most enemy ships attack the player directly using:
guns
depth charges
Hedgehog mortars
SQUID anti-submarine projectiles
The Bangor-class works differently.
Even after the ship itself leaves the area, the danger remains underwater.
Minefields can transform narrow routes and shallow areas into highly dangerous zones where navigation, evasion, and convoy interception become significantly more difficult.
🔹 Shallow-Water Missions
The new minelayer primarily appears during shallow-water operations.
These missions are intended to create a different kind of underwater tension:
less open maneuvering space
reduced escape options
increased environmental hazards
constant risk of triggering magnetic mines
Combined with destroyers and anti-submarine attacks, underwater encounters become much more unpredictable and stressful.
🔹 Fully Modeled in Blender
As usual, the ship was fully modeled in 3D in Blender before being integrated into the game.
I also prepared a short showcase video presenting the model and its role in gameplay.
The ocean in Subnautic Raider is becoming increasingly dangerous — even before the shooting starts.
