Subnautic Raider changes
A major gameplay update has been added to Subnautic Raider.
During the last three weeks, I focused on expanding the submarine equipment system and introducing a set of technical parameters that define how each submarine behaves.
The game now includes 10 submarine parameters:
Sonar range
Torpedo reload speed
Pump efficiency
Auto-repair speed and capacity
Oxygen reserve
Magnetic signature reduction
Leak reduction
Reliability
Engine silencing
Maximum depth
Some of these parameters already existed internally, but they were never clearly exposed to the player. Now they are fully integrated into the equipment system.
Because of this change, the Equipment section in the player base has been expanded with modules that can be browsed, purchased and upgraded.
Although there are 10 equipment categories, the system currently contains 34 unique modules, designed for different submarine types. Each module has its own upgrade path and parameter values.
A large part of the work in this update was also visual. I created 10 equipment icons representing the different systems. All graphics were created in Blender, matching the steampunk aesthetic of the game.
As usual, I’ve recorded a preview video showing how the equipment system looks and works in the game.
And don’t forget to turn on the sound — the video also features the atmospheric steampunk base soundtrack.
