Striving for Light changes
Welcome back wanderers! At this announcement post we will unveil a major segment of the new content coming to the Era of Darkness - Season 2 content update for Striving for Light.
In case you have missed Part 2 of the Era of Darkness - Season 2 announcement you can read it here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1646790/view/498345684383040147?l=english
Please keep in mind that everything presented is still subject to change until its release.
New True Roguelike Mode: Darkness Modes
You might have asked yourself why is the Season 2 Content Update not called something Druid related if a new class is a major part of the Season 2 content Udpate...? Well here it is. We are happy to announce that we are adding a True Roguelike Gamemode to Striving for Light in Season 2.
With Season 2 the Era of Darkness is spreading corruption on the vast lands around Ankerath, and even breaching the city gates.
The Darkness Mode is a new True Roguelike Game-Mode where no meta progression can be taken to your next run. The darkness mode will grant access to the Tree of Darkness, a corrupted version of the Tree of Light that will grant you more powerful powers for your current run.
All skill and weapon unlocks will be available from the start in this game mode and Heleja and Goladir will support your venture into the darkness by supplying you with new weapons and skillgems.
Darkness Mode comes with 3 difficulty tiers and will allow to experience Striving for Light from a Roguelike perspective. On Darkness Mode you can as well select if you wish to play normal or hardcore mode. Which totals up to 4 new ways to experience Striving for Light.
Each run will challenge you to turn the odds to your favour and requiring a new approach to build crafting. You can play the Darkness mode in Normal mode and Hardcore mode and there are separate leaderboards.
In darkness mode your run based decision making is all that counts and this game mode is perfect for players that want to simply experience the entire content without spending time to unlock everything first. The separate leaderboards will allow to compete against other players where everyone starts at the exact same point on each run.
We put a lot of thought into this new game mode to breath fresh air into Striving for Light and give you more options to experience Striving for Light the way you like it. This game mode is entirely optional.
We have plenty more major features and content to reveal for the upcoming "Era of Darkness" content update.
As already mentioned on the last update post:
We decided that the Era of Darkness Content Update will be a free content update!
Despite the size being more leaning towards a DLC, we do not want to fracture the playerbase, nor following the meta of setting buying incentives by making new content "stronger". We are just two persons loving ARPGs and Roguelites who want to craft the best gaming experience we can, balancing the game to our vision.
We decided to rather work on a Supporter Pack DLC where we can implement all the fun ideas for purely cosmetic non gameplay affecting cosmetics, we have collected while being on this ~5 year development journey.
To ease the wait and fire your excitement for this massive update here is a Era of Darkness Wallpaper for you to download:
