Devlog #7 — Smarter Rail Placement

Hi everyone,

In the last devlog, we showed how the editor is moving toward a piece-based layout system.

This time, we focused on making rail placement clearer before confirming a piece.

Smarter Snap Feedback

When a rail piece is in preview, the editor now checks nearby connection points and shows which snap option will be used.

This makes building easier to understand: the player can see where the rail wants to connect before placing it.

Invalid Placement Warnings

The editor also starts preventing invalid placement.

If a rail would go below the floor or create a bad placement, the preview turns red and the piece cannot be confirmed.

This should help avoid broken layouts while building.

Small Teaser

We are also testing what happens after the tracks are created.

As a small teaser, here is a video showing the train moving after building the rails:

What Comes Next

Next, we will keep improving rail connections, branches and the logic needed for more complex layouts.

Thanks for following the development of Speed Rivals: Model Trains.
