Repeated intro
Hey, hello, and hi hi! It is I, flower baasket. It's been a bit, hasn't it?
What changed
- UI and audio
- Gameplay
- Balance
- Events
I guess it hasn't really been that long, but for me, this is pretty long! How will I survive without spamming your Steam library with news?!
I've been taking a little break from the game. It's the first time I've made a conscious effort to work less ever since the game came out in August. I don't want to sound too sentimental, but the game has become a bit stressful as of late...
It's just one negative thought after another. "Is there even a point in adding this?" "Will anyone even care if this is finished or not?" The more I think, the more I feel like this game is destined to fail. The only reason I took a break is just felt so pointless to even try.
But, even then, it's not the most accurate display of reality, is it? Sure, Snow • Fall isn't huge or anything, and it sure as hell has its fair share of problems, but aren't people interested? Aren't people buying the game and sinking hours into it? Even if people don't like the game, don't they care enough to discuss it?
I want to try, even if it's pointless. My brain won't let me accept it, but there's still things I can do. I think being complacent in mediocrity is a bad trait for a game developer to have.
And so! That is why I have decided to delay Griffn's Side Story! Poor girl, she's never gonna see the light the day.
Instead, I want to work on a problem that has been with the game since day one. I know what it is, you know what it is, it's...
Snow • Fall 0.4 - Polyrhythm
...It's the fuckass GUI!
I've known this for a while, I just didn't want to admit it. I am terrible at making GUI. Even though I have such nice sprites, I can't compose them in a way that's pleasing to look at...
There's also the problem with text scaling at lower resolutions, that's something I want to fix, too.
And that's why I introduce the new 0.4, or, Polyrhythm. Before I add even more content to the game, I want to make sure the things from Severance and the Vysis Expansions are the best state they can be in.
I don't have much to share, since I haven't started planning or anything, but I will definitely be hiring somebody more skilled than me at arranging this kind of stuff. I'll share concreate details when I get them.
There will also be a new character, because that's way more interesting than new enemies.
It will feature Caiyin, a Cat Monster with a passion for music. I always wanted to make a glass cannon character, and I did try with Zhu Haoyu. She ended up being more cannon and less glass, though...
Her main gimmick consist of trading HP for Crystalline Droplets, and a unique Glacial Status, Glacial - Vibration
Her variant will be Venom Collective Junkie Caiyin, a challenge character that can only use Counter Droplets. Not much to say about this one, I only have the idea for her.
All of this...will most certainly take a while, so I'm sorry in advance for the content drought. Not like you all don't have better things to be doing, but still!
What's • Next
I mean...nothing much.
Not like it's a surprise, but there's gonna be a lot less communication from me as I focus on making a more enjoyable experience. Once things actually start up, I may bring back those monthly devolgs.
Ah...what a classic. Only real ones remember those.
0.3.2 should be coming out early January. It includes new Reminiscent Mode final bosses, a new Reminiscent Mode Path, and the missing character sides stories from Gravedigger and Zhu Haoyu.
And a Speed rework, I let that bitch live for long enough.
The Best - 0 Water 1-2 Attack Droplet - Use - Spend 1 Cool Factor to reuse this Droplet (15x max)
Anyways, that's all from me. Thank you to all of those who have stuck with the game so far, and a very special thank you to those who have left their thoughts and criticisms. I promise, I'll try to make the best game that I can.
