Very • Beautiful • June

Hello, hello? Hi! It is, flower baasket! I can't believe June already passed. I was going to release this on the 31st of June. And then I realized that there is no 31st of June, and that I'm an idiot.

Repeated intro

Hello, hello? Hi! It is, flower baasket!

What changed

0 fixes4 additions8 changes0 removals
  • UI and audio
  • Gameplay
  • Balance
  • Events
changedAnyways, geez, I was on some different timing last year. Apparently I finished everything except the UI, according to the last June devlog.
changedMisery • Gravedigger!...But, for some reason, the reworked Misery fucking Gravedigger is apparently quite good. I finished him in a day and a half, said "im not even gonna test him myself, im just gonna throw him out there and hope he works," and he's BETTER than the highlight character of the update. That's crazy!
addedMisery • Gravedigger!Anyways, new Misery Gravedigger. Before he was a technical character, and now he's a debuff-tank hybrid that deals additional damage depending on the amount of debuffs on the enemy.
changedMisery • Gravedigger! To put it simply, his main gimmick consist of building a deck without any tags repeating. If you do that, you'll be rewarded with a multitude of damage and survivability related buffs.
changedMisery • Gravedigger! He's very versatile now! You could play him as intended, but to help stack up his damage, certain negative ailments drain slower on him. That makes him probably one of the best characters for stacking Burn or Bleed.
changedOther • StuffI didn't do any UI work....

I can't believe June already passed. I was going to release this on the 31st of June. And then I realized that there is no 31st of June, and that I'm an idiot.

It was a beautiful one, that's for sure. I feel like I shouldn't be as confident as I am, yet I'm feeling as good as can be.

I actually had more progress last year. If you're a true Snow • Fall fan, you'd remember that the game released on August 22nd, the same planned release date for 0.4. In a way, this is kinda like the game's one-year anniversary.

One year anniversary and Griffn is still not playable...If I think about it, it makes me sad...

Anyways, geez, I was on some different timing last year. Apparently I finished everything except the UI, according to the last June devlog.

Meanwhile, I've only finished a fraction of the Cubes, none of the challenges, and none of the Products...boo...

However, I would be lying if I said I didn't do anything this month. Actually, this one was super productive!

But I think I'll keep this one short. Usually, I spend around a day or two writing these, but I wanna get right back to work, so...sorry! And besides, I want there to be tons of surprises when the update actually does drop! Even for playtesters, there's gonna be something for everyone!

Li An in Station Monitoring uniform to celebrate Pride Month. In return for vivid hallucinations, the worm inside of a Monitoring Personnel's brain greatly enhances their photography skills.

I'm envious of my own characters. Who made them this cute, huh?!

^ me, i did.

Misery • Gravedigger!

I did want to talk about Caiyin here, but unfortunately it seems like she's a littlllle ass at the moment.

That's okay! I never hit it out the park with the first iteration of a character. That just means I gotta lock in and bounce back harder with a better version.

...But, for some reason, the reworked Misery fucking Gravedigger is apparently quite good. I finished him in a day and a half, said "im not even gonna test him myself, im just gonna throw him out there and hope he works," and he's BETTER than the highlight character of the update. That's crazy!

I know I'm not known for my incredible balancing skills, but I'm upset about that. Gravedigger upscale for all the Gravedigger fans out there.

Anyways, new Misery Gravedigger. Before he was a technical character, and now he's a debuff-tank hybrid that deals additional damage depending on the amount of debuffs on the enemy.

To quote one of Misery's passives, "Zodi does not appreciate your company."

To put it simply, his main gimmick consist of building a deck without any tags repeating. If you do that, you'll be rewarded with a multitude of damage and survivability related buffs.

He's very versatile now! You could play him as intended, but to help stack up his damage, certain negative ailments drain slower on him. That makes him probably one of the best characters for stacking Burn or Bleed.

He's cool. I hate Gravedigger, personally, but he's cool. Simple and powerful, just like how a Gravedigger alt should be.

Other • Stuff

I didn't do any UI work....

BUUUT! I did get the files for the new status effect window. It doesn't look difficult to implement, unlike the other ones, so that's great! Once I finish that, there's only gonna be the turn/wave counter, then the Droplet Queue to complete, then I'll be finished!

This is a mock-up version from the UI designer. Finished product should look something like that. And some status effects will be getting some rewrites, too.

I also gotta work on that bug, er, oversight, that appears on the product selection screen. Y'know, sometimes the status boxes block actually important text. I think that literally only happens with one Product in the game. Fuck you in particular, Candy Walker!

But still, I wanna update it. That's more work for me. Truly, the road to a good UI is paved with my personal suffering.

Unrelated to that, but I did also finish the Reminiscent Path for Burn. Currently untested, but in terms of difficulty it should be one of the easier ones. There's only Sentiment to go, then I'm done!

Event art for all of the Reminiscent Paths, and the ??? event.

Mika's lucky I was too busy this month. Her ass gets to live another day.

Product • Showcase

That's it, really. Told you, short devlog.

With that, I have officially finished all of the Cubes that I have shown off, and some extra ones. For now, I'm going to stop creating new ones until I finish some necessary features.

Emotion looks really fun to run, though I still have to add some more Cubes before it can be considered usable. I wanna run it with Venom Caiyin once I'm all done...

I know I complain about workload a lot, but I truly do enjoy working on this game. I like seeing people talk about it, and I enjoy seeing criticism, too. Let's hope that Polyrhythm will be the update to revitalize the game and pave the way towards many more stories.
