Repeated intro

Hello everyone!

What changed

  • Gameplay
  • UI and audio
changedThis is a screen that displays information about the character, status, derived stats, skills and attributes. This screen will also be used for levelling up, updating skills and attributes as needed. It will display active status effects on the character (muted, deafened, poisoned, etc), joined factions, renown, and all sort of quantities, eventually also all active enchantments from items, spells or otherwise. It's still work in progress, and will be revisited in the near future!
changedThere are two contextual action modes: a "simple" and a "full" one. The "simple" enables you to press a button and see available actions for the position you're at (e.g. pick up something from the ground) or neighbouring positions (e.g. attack a creature, open a door, unlock a chest, etc). The "full" one allows you to select any visible position and see what actions are available, e.g. a ranged attack if an appropriate weapon is equipped. For combat, there will be more GUI work in the near future, with a skill/spell hotbar, but for now in the video I'm using the contextual action to do that.
changedSigil of Kings gameplay places high importance on timing. Sometimes adventuring in the dark is preferred, sometimes light is essential, sometimes you need to be somewhere at midnight during a full moon. To avoiding spamming a "skip turn" key to a desired time, we are able to wait for an arbitrary amount of time. This can be achieved with some appropriate GUI. But, be careful! Waiting for a long time with threats around can be dangerous...
changedThis is all for now - enjoy the rest of the summer and stay tuned until next time!

Even more GUI updates this months, focussing on more screens and controller navigation. This time not just in terms of design, as some of the below videos were recorded stricly by playing with a controller.

Character Sheet

This is a screen that displays information about the character, status, derived stats, skills and attributes.

Contextual actions

Sigil of Kings is now set to fully support a controller, in addition to keyboard/mouse, so that both modes feel natural! For controller play, it's really useful to be able to quickly decide what you can do with something in your surroundings.

There are two contextual action modes: a "simple" and a "full" one. Waiting

Sigil of Kings gameplay places high importance on timing.
