changedThanks to player reports and feedback from the community, the team was able to quickly identify the match loading issue where some players were experiencing long initial load times . We’ve already implemented a fix, and match loading times should now be significantly improved . We are continuing to optimize overall performance of the game and fix issues.

Shrapnel Early Access – Week 1

Update: Day 1 & 2 of Shrapnel Early Access is officially in the books — and what a start it’s been.

Thanks to player reports and feedback from the community, the team was able to quickly identify the match loading issue where some players were experiencing long initial load times. We’ve already implemented a fix, and match loading times should now be significantly improved. We are continuing to optimize overall performance of the game and fix issues.

Welcome to Early Access Week 1. We’re excited to begin playing and building Shrapnel with you.

This marks the start of a more open process for our team — one where we share what we’re testing, what we’re learning, and how your feedback helps shape the game. Week by week, we want to bring the community closer to the decisions that define Shrapnel and the systems that drive each match.

Our goal is simple: bring players closer to the heart of Shrapnel and the decisions that define every session. Steam post image

The Operators

To kick things off, Early Access begins with Index and Swan — two of our favorite Operators and strong examples of the roles and team dynamics we want Shrapnel to support.

Each Operator represents a distinct playstyle: a different way to approach the battlefield, support the squad, and help secure victory. Index and Swan highlight two sides of that vision and are a strong place to begin showing how Operator identity connects directly to the match itself.

As Early Access continues, we’ll introduce more Operators and explore how different abilities, strengths, and roles shape the rhythm of a match.

Operators are not just characters — they are different ways to solve the same battlefield.

The Game Mode – Stockpile

At the center of the Shrapnel experience is Stockpile.

In this mode, teams compete to collect and deposit 300 G-Kg's of Sigma before the enemy team.

At its core, the mode breaks down into three simple actions:

Collect. Deposit. Secure.

Success in each of these actions drives the rhythm of every match.

Teams move through the battlefield to collect Sigma from meteor impact sites and other opportunities in the Zone. Once recovered, Sigma must be delivered to your team’s active Grav-Sync to convert it into progress toward victory.

But depositing Sigma is only part of the fight.

Teams must secure control of their Grav-Sync long enough to protect their gains from thieves, while also looking for opportunities to disrupt the enemy team’s progress.

This is what gives Shrapnel its distinct pressure. You’re not only fighting for eliminations — you’re fighting for momentum, territory, and the resources that make your team stronger over time. Steam post image

The Power Curve

One of the most important systems in Shrapnel is the team power curve.

The more Sigma your team recovers and successfully deposits, the more powerful your team’s abilities become. Matches are driven by that escalation.

Early in a match, teams contest space and search for openings. As more Sigma enters the system, the stakes rise. Abilities become more impactful, team fights become more dangerous, and momentum begins to matter more.

By the late stages of a match, every decision carries more weight.

Sigma isn’t just something you score.

It’s the fuel that drives the match forward.

The team that controls Sigma controls the pace of the match.

The Core Loop

Remember, the full loop of Stockpile is never just about one action. It’s about the relationship between all three:

  • Collect to create opportunity. • Deposit to convert that opportunity into power. • Secure to defend what your team has earned.

That relationship — and the tension it creates — is the foundation we’re building on.

Check the Leaderboards

Have you made it onto the Sigma leaderboard yet?

This tracks Sigma deposited across all of your matches, and there’s still time to climb the Week 1 rankings. Top players will earn bragging rights — and a few fun prizes — so the entire community knows who the most dominant Operators in the Sacrifice Zone really are.

Looking Ahead

Over the coming weeks, we’ll continue sharing deeper looks at:

  • Upcoming Operators and their abilities • Match flow and combat roles • Systems that shape progression • Updates based on community feedback

Most importantly, we’ll keep listening to what feels exciting, what feels unclear, and what needs improvement.

This is only Week 1, but we’re glad you’re here with us at the beginning.

And we’re excited to keep building from here.
