SHRAPNEL changes
Shrapnel Early Access – Week 4–5
Thank you to everyone who has continued to jump into Early Access each week. With a full Operator roster now in play and an expanding arsenal, we’re seeing more defined playstyles, stronger team coordination, and a clearer picture of how matches are evolving.
We’re tuning based on your feedback and addressing issues as they surface.
Before we jump in — a quick note.
This update is arriving later than planned. We took additional time to address an issue where skins were not consistently displaying correctly in-game. Getting that right was important, especially as we begin introducing progression-based rewards. Steam post image
We have two focus areas for this update: The Battle Pass and Combat Improvements.
Our goal remains the same: bring players closer to the heart of Shrapnel and the decisions that define every session. Steam post image
Battle Pass Integration Steam post image
This week, we’re introducing Battle Passes to Shrapnel.
Operators now have another place to spend their hard-earned Grants — and to kick things off, we’re unlocking access to a free Battle Pass: Neon Dawn.
This first pass is a look at how progression will evolve in Shrapnel. Players can unlock: • Weapon skins • Player profile backgrounds • Insignias • Higher-rank Operators • Munitions Caches • And more
Over time, we’ll expand this system with both free and premium Battle Pass options. Steam post image
What Makes a Shrapnel Battle Pass Different
Choose Your Path Each Battle Pass is made up of multiple pages, each containing several rewards. Players choose which items to unlock, progressing through the pass based on their priorities.
No Expiration Once you own a Battle Pass, there is no time limit for completion. Passes will also remain available for purchase even after new ones are introduced.
Full Trade All customization and gameplay items will be tradable peer-to-peer in the marketplace — including weapon skins, Operators, and more. While some items may not be tradable immediately, all are intended to become tradable over time.
Munitions Cache Each Battle Pass includes one or more Munitions Caches, which grant a random reward from a curated pool of items — including exclusive weapon skins, charms, player cards, and more.
Caches can be opened multiple times (up to a cap), meaning players may earn different rewards from the same pass — including items with higher trade value. Steam post image
Higher-Rank Operators While Rank 1 Operators can be purchased directly with Grants, each free Battle Pass includes a Rank 2 Operator. This provides additional perks and traits, accelerating progression toward more specialized builds. Steam post image
Refining Combat
Alongside progression, we’re continuing to improve the core experience.
This update includes: • Improvements to hit registration • Bug fixes across gameplay systems • Continued iteration on responsiveness and consistency
Combat feel remains a top priority. Every shot, every interaction, and every outcome needs to feel reliable and understandable.
As we continue tuning, we’ll be focusing on consistency — making sure what players see, feel, and expect aligns with what actually happens in-game. Steam post image
On a more personal note — thank you.
We’ve been in the game alongside you throughout Early Access. There have been nights where we couldn’t help but play one more match, and more than a few meetings that started late because we were still in the Zone.
We appreciate everyone continuing to play, test, and share feedback as we shape the experience together.
See you in the Zone.
