What changed

  • Gameplay
  • UI and audio
  • Compatibility
changedGameplay was designed from the start to be controller-friendly, and the menu system is navigable via the controller buttons, including text entry for lobby codes!
changedText is easily visible in the UI.
fixedSmall note to previewers: if you played a pre-release version of the game on Steam Deck you may have encountered an Unreal Engine 5.4 bug that causes the game to constantly prompt you to install and uninstall the Visual C++ runtime. We have contacted Epic to try and get this fixed engine-side, but until then the latest version should have a workaround in place.

With the release of Shoulders of Giants: Ultimate, we want portable players to have a seamless experience equivalent to those on PC. We have regularly been testing the game on a Steam Deck OLED and believe we’ve got all the bases covered:

  • Gameplay was designed from the start to be controller-friendly, and the menu system is navigable via the controller buttons, including text entry for lobby codes!

  • Playing on Steam Deck will set well-performing graphical settings by default.

  • You’ll see the correct controller icons.

  • Text is easily visible in the UI.

If you encounter any Steam Deck specific issues, please contact us here or via our Discord.

Thank you and have fun!! -Kyle
