Time for a lore dump! Shoulders of Giants originally released as an exclusive game on multiple non-Steam platforms. We love those platforms because without the exclusivity opportunities this game literally would not exist.

For the first half-year following release, we put out several major updates addressing the game’s weakest aspects and serving up an overflowing ice cream sundae of new content for our fans, including dozens of new abilities, completely overhauled mission objectives, leaderboards, hardcore mode, planet anomalies...

After taking a break to focus on Entropy Survivors, we’ve finally returned to Shoulders of Giants with fresh eyes (and expired platform contracts) and molded it into the best game it can be – Shoulders of Giants: Ultimate.

There has never been a better time to play Shoulders of Giants!

The Ultimate release includes the following:

  • An upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.

  • Four new classes, including the freezing Arctic Core and the killer-kawaii Kitty Core!

  • Thanks to major CPU optimizations for enemies, we have rebalanced the game’s pacing to make worlds feel much more “alive.” You’ll now face many more baddies at once (we’ve adjusted enemy stats to account for this)!

  • It is now much simpler to influence the results of the crafting system.

  • Our longest-running community feature request is now in: you can reorder your equipped abilities from the pause menu!

  • The giant energy crystals that once populated the world of SOG have been replaced by smashable energy crates. It’s fun to smash things.

  • New planet anomalies.

  • A major overhaul of UI art for readability and style.

  • Hundreds of other minor fixes and balance changes.
