Shell of a King changes
The 64th update for 'Shell of a King' is here! As always, if you find any bugs, especially game-breaking ones, please let me know via the official Discord! This update is particularly large so any bug reporting is much appreciated! Note that your maps may look a bit strange, specifically in the King's Ward area. This is a result of me redrawing the whole map, sorry this should be the last time I mess with it! 1.2w Change List:
Add a big scorpion mini-boss below the scorpion spawner
Add ghost dog secret mini boss
Add sthena idol secret mini boss with Crumpled Page 5, with location hint
Add Pentaract Beacon mini boss sealing off the Shrine of Silence
Add 4 new cloaks for the player, customizable via the Bronze Shears key item. Clean up the old cloak as well
Add a new short afro hairstyle
Add the player's arms and gun to the inventory, reformatting the inventory slightly
Add defence shred to enemy attacks, lowering your defence by 1 every hit. Defence restores after 3 seconds of not being hit. This is to stop many enemies from dealing 0 damage with moderate defence investment.
Add a spooky trap to the Soul Shaper item pickup
Add item equip/unequip effects to the inventory
Add 3 more hidden walls
Add a hidden path secret to Pricilla's 2nd location
Add new map icons for every NPC
Add a big flag thing to the Lower Sewers
Add a mini boulder to the chapel staircase
Add active 9-17 keybinds back in via a second controls page
Add a separate Soul Fragment keybind for ease of use
Add some new tiles to Queens Garden, Meadow of Whispers, and Bottom of Well
Add more spider webs to the Infested Library
Add boss phase transition effect to all bosses/minibosses
Add gamepad bumper navigation for Inventory
Add red coin switch thing to Grand Library
Add resolution scaling to UI in main menu and credits screen
Add real designs for the 2 mini bosses in the Hall of Mistakes
Add some new visuals to Sewer Conduit, Hall of Mistakes, Meadow of Whispers, and Queen's Garden, with more to come
Add new shot sounds for weapon type charms
Add a file clone button, available when there is an empty file slot
Add more various sounds
Add many particle fx and other visual improvements
Increase coins lost on death from 25% to 33%, with so many new sources of coins I felt some balancing was needed.
Redraw the entire map to be pixel-perfect and more descriptive in some areas
B now closes the inventory on gamepad
Spinnel is now invulnerable for 1 cycle of her final phase
You can no longer break the Queen's Garden barricade from the wrong side
Make the Fishing Rod always next to the Aegean Flask in the key items selection
Make the player's hurtbox visually align with the stairs
Adjust to soul fragment description to make it clear they regen on rest
Slime Titan now poses on phase change lol
Wishing Well coin drop wording changes when no rewards are left
Buff the big land snake in the Lower Sewers, now doesn't respawn
Killing Pricilla's fire too many times now results in her retaliating
Rework Grave Ghosts slightly
Improve Grand Library bookcase autotiling
Redraw the Orb of the cautious item sprite
Make the Soul Trials orb slightly more transparent
Fix Dear Sister not throwing big scythe
Fix Auri flames still spawning shots after dissapating
Fix dying during Sahn's death animation causing the boss fight to break
Fix the player's small healthbar disappearing after the Gregory intro cutscene
Fix Stone Snake rocks not clearing on reset
Fix many other visual/gameplay bugs
Many small optimizations
Various other small/internal changes
