This is likely to be the last major update before we start prepping a demo release ahead of Steam Next fest in June!

The headlines are:

· Major game table UI overhaul

· Multiplayer stability, preventing rage quitting from closing lobbies early

· Game performance, lots of optimisation in the background to ensure the all new animations feel smooth and bring a bit more life to the game.

More in depth patch notes below:

New UI

The game table has been completely rebuilt, and the new layout makes significantly more use of players screens:

  • Clearer deck, pile, and burn areas

  • A unified bottom player station with dynamic spacing (depending on pick ups and burns)

  • A much clearer 1v1 opponent container, making those boss fights feel like you’re across the table from them

  • A compact multi‑opponent grid for larger matches, but utilising more of the space

  • Consistent scaling across all window sizes, including ultrawide

  • Sharper card art and face‑down hover/flip animations

  • And expandable player icons so you can show off your hard earned decorations!

This is the largest visual update SHED has had so far and should make matches feel much clearer and more readable.

Multiplayer Improvements

Online play is now more reliable and benefits hugely from the UI update:

  • Host migration is significantly more stable and recovers cleanly mid‑match

  • Disconnected players are clearly shown in‑game, made easier by the new UI

  • Bot fill now correctly supports up to 8 seats

  • VS transition screens now appear across all multiplayer modes

  • General clean up so matches end cleanly and don’t leave state behind (Weird issue were some games were hanging even when the lobby closed).

Performance

Finally, with the new UI and animations we hit a couple of snags with performance (which seemed unbelievable for such a small asset load!) Some of the improvements here include:

  • Smoother card and UI animations

  • Combo/streak counter now resets correctly on pickup

  • Reduced micro‑stutters (Pretty much eliminated entirely, but would love to hear if any players are experiencing micro-stutters or lag).

  • Faster start up thanks to shader and asset pre‑loads (Still loads really quickly though, this isn’t a typical FPS shader load)

If you jump in, enjoy the game, tell us what you think, and please report any bugs you run into every bit of feedback helps us get things into a stable place!
