This is a major update that includes the much needed Biome system - ports come alive, and your actions impact the world even more so! You'll encounter significantly more characters at sea - aid them, defeat them, and raid new land-based POIs.
Also included is more activities, like fishing!
Improved the games weather system - this is largely not noticeable (yet!) but will be used in a future update.
Added Fog of War System
The main map is now obstructed by the FOW
Visiting Ports for the first time will yield a small gold reward for discovery
Added new Ports
Montego Bay
Reworked name generation
Added AI agent generation system
Added the Biome System
Added the new "Prosperity" system to ports - this acts as currency that can be used to spend on port upgrades.
Prosperity is earned based on the health of ports - have towns been raided? fisherman fleets sunk?
Ports now have new characters - these are the "influential" citizens of a specific port - randomly generated on each play through!
Added new resource nodes to ports (currently used by fisherman)
Added fisherman fleets, owned by the influential citizens of a port. They'll fish daily and provide prosperity to ports
Added Towns - these are new POIs that players can interact with - they can't be docked at, but benefit the connected ports Prosperity
Added the ability to raid ports (this involves using your crew to rain the town, no naval battles here) - connect Port Prosperity is negative impacted when raided
Added Raider camps - these are new POIs that players can interact with - they can't be docked at, but can be raided
Spawns raiders when active - players can raid a camp to prevent the raiders from spawning for 3 in-games days (along with earning loot)
Added Villages - these are new POIs that players can interact with - they can't be docked at, but can be raided.
Added object pooling for ships objects and nameplates, reducing memory usage and preventing lag spikes due to object initialization
Updated fleet rendering logic to work with the new Fog of War system to reduce memory usage
Fixed an issue with ship object spawning and buoyancy - ships will no longer "bounce" while trying to equalize with the water level.
Added Sea Shanty system
When sailing in deep ocean, and at max speed, after 10 seconds of sailing in these conditions, your crew will start singing sea shanties - they'll stop if you slow down.
Added the first song: Randy Dandy Oh
Fixed an issue with not being able to close with Shipyard with the close button
Fixed issues with Interaction system
Dozens of fixes and performance improvements
This is a major update to the game, and while I strive to ensure releases are as bug free as possible, it's inevitable that I missed something! If you run into any issues, please let me know either in the Steam Discussions, or better yet, on Discord: https://discord.gg/hdkEAVhXXq
