Sempra Infernalis changes
Last week we had to announce a delay to the launch of Sempra Infernalis.
But, we are pleased to report that our hardware issues are completely resolved and development continues in earnest.
From this day on, in addition to general updates, we will be talking more about specific features and game content in more detail. Today, the Achievement system!
Constant Progression In Sempra Infernalis
Every time you play, you will achieve something. Be it a minor a major milestone. But how does this work in practice?
Every felled enemy drops Essence. Easier enemies drop less whereas harder foe's drop more, further the value of the essence dropped increases with enemy difficulty. This must be collected by the player by simply passing through its space (running over it). When you die, and yes you will die, lots... all of your progress from that run is lost, except for essence.
This is taken back to your sanctuary and can be used to buy new weapons and items, upgrade existing pieces or to increase your speed, health etc.
Essence has an additional function though, it acts a proxy for XP. The more you play, the more essence you will collect. That running total of essence collected progresses you through a sliding scale of achievements. So even when you have died for the hundredth time, you may still be able to unlock items to increase your chances of success on the next run.
You might unlock a essence dump, you might unlock a weapon part (keep an eye out for future announcements that will detail how you can build crazy powerful weapons), a permanent boost to damage or health or your speed. You might also unlock new and unique items not available anywhere else in the game.
We hope that this system is familiar to players (we certainly didn't invent it!) and will keep players having fun for longer. Because that's the focus of this game. To have fun.
We look forward to you being able to experience this in the near future. If you want more information or want to share your thoughts on this system, join our discord and chat with us! We would love to hear from you!
Until the next update, stay safe and enjoy yourselves.
Oliver
