Hello everyone,

Patch 1.7.7 is now live. This update includes a major overhaul to the Main Menu and character avatar systems, additional polish across UI/controller support, localization fixes, and several gameplay improvements.

Main Menu & UI Improvements

The Main Menu has received a large optimization and usability pass:

  • Updated the Main Menu to properly support native resolutions across all screens.

  • Optimized Main Menu screen performance and responsiveness.

  • Fixed several buttons occasionally becoming unresponsive when using the mouse.

  • Fixed remaining localization spacing issues across menu screens.

  • Fixed certain “Back” actions not responding correctly on gamepad.

  • Added mouse highlight feedback across Main Menu screens.

  • Improved selected-state feedback on the Choose Your Experience screen.

  • Removed the “+” symbol being displayed next to Audio values while adjusting them.

  • Added controller support for backing out of the “Are You Sure?” Challenges reset confirmation screen.

  • Fixed a bug where multiple inventory items could be selected at once when double-clicking with the mouse.

  • Added mouse navigation controls to the Inventory keyboard legend.

Character Avatar System Overhaul

The character avatar system has been fully rebuilt to improve consistency, readability, performance, and future expandability.

This new system also lays the groundwork for upcoming cosmetic unlocks tied to Challenges.

Changes Include:

  • Reworked and optimized the entire avatar tracking system.

  • Removed legacy code from the previous avatar implementation.

  • Fixed issues where the Knife, Glock 19, and Shotgun could:

    • Appear duplicated

    • Fail to appear correctly

    • Display inconsistently between states

  • The following weapons are now properly tracked and visually displayed on the character:

    • Landmine

    • Crossbow

    • Sawed-Off Shotgun

    • UMP

    • All Glock variants

      • Previously only the base Glock was visible

  • Larger weapons now dynamically display on the player’s back based on:

    • Inventory contents

    • Currently equipped weapon

  • Updated Survivor Stories characters to use the new avatar system.

Gameplay & World Updates

  • Added a blinking animation to Big Mama.

  • Added a short cutscene after releasing water pressure in the Sewers.

  • Added an in-game map image for Lighter Fluid, which is removed once collected.

  • Stan King now leaves behind a First Aid Kit after revisiting him and viewing his cutscene, allowing the area to be fully completed.

  • Added Dillon as a discoverable Corpse Blood encounter somewhere within the Sewers after certain events.

    • Kept intentionally vague to avoid spoilers.

  • Updated the Carbon Ash item description to better reflect its gameplay functionality.

Audio & Music Updates

  • Fixed Shop Radio next/previous track mouse detection.

  • The Shop area music will now dynamically update based on the currently selected Shop Radio track.

Localization Fixes

  • Fixed incorrect French localization for Pages 1–4 of Cyrus Audio Log #2.

  • Fixed localization spacing for the Maintenance Building break room “In Progress” message.

  • Fixed French localization for October Planning Display document Page 6.

Known Issue

We are aware of an issue in Survivor Stories where selecting an item specifically with the mouse while not having enough Blood Shards can cause a soft lock, forcing the player to restart.

  • Using a controller or keyboard currently works as expected.

  • This issue will be addressed in the upcoming Survivor Stories update.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you again to everyone continuing to play, report bugs, and support Sanguine as development continues!
