Sandbox Apocalypse changes
Version 0.6.3.0 features a map twice as big as the previous one. The map size has grown from one square kilometer to two. If you travel on the main road towards the east you will enter the new map part. You will notice that the landscape also has been modulated in a slightly different way and that it is populated by some new plant types and features depending on the height of the terrain.
The original map part (where the players start) has also been overhauled. This is just the first extension of many more to come, remember that I'm planning to grow the map up to a size of 10 by 10 kilometers.
These are other noteworty features and bugfixes of this release:
Features:
A second map section has been added to the game, featuring an extensive road, a dirt road and one POI for now
New cactus plants populate the desert. Harvest a cactus for a new (and relatively deadly but not very durable) weapon
Roads have just become safer due to the placement of road deliniators
The Vehicle camera is now connected more like a "rubber band" to the vehicle so that you won't experience vertigo trauma while driving :)
The height resolution of the map has doubled. When digging you will by default change the height of the terrain bei 25 cm (0,25 m). But if you press the Shift-key you will change the terrain height by just 12,5 cm (0.125 m). This for example allows to smooth out roads so that smaller vehicles can properly drive on them without getting stuck. When driving offroad remember to better choose the Pickup Truck which has a much higher ground clearance ...
Bugfixes:
Ambient Occlusion caused flickering on Tree Canopy Materials
Container loot spawn wasn't fully random right from the start of a new campaign
What's next? The next release will feature a vehicle dashboard and the need to fuel up your vehicle.
Cheers, Ben
