What changed

0 fixes4 additions2 changes3 removals
  • Gameplay
  • Balance
  • Maps
addedIt's a new craftable station that sprouts plantable seeds from plants and flowers you've foraged. Huge thanks to ArkHaven on Discord for suggesting this. High time we upped the (re)production capabilities on the homesteading front. The Germinator means you can create farms of exquisite rarity and beauty... but everyone knows the real riches are in the terroir...
addedBrand new GRAPHICS MODE SELECTOR screen when you start a new run
addedThen of course we have 12 new community-painted sprites in the game, thanks to the pixel art team - go check out their work on Discord. It's mind-bogglingly amazing work and has made the game look way better than I could have ever imagined, so thank you to the team.
addedThe demo now has a friendlier first hour of play
changedReworked onboarding: dropped the old dream-sequence tutorial in favour of contextual tips that appear as you actually play
changed"Infinite hatchets" weapon-swap duplication bug squashed

G'day adventurers,

Today we've got a lovely big update to share - the last one before Steam Next Fest starts! Hold on to your helms.

Introducing THE GERMINATOR

It's a new craftable station that sprouts plantable seeds from plants and flowers you've foraged. Huge thanks to ArkHaven on Discord for suggesting this. High time we upped the (re)production capabilities on the homesteading front. The Germinator means you can create farms of exquisite rarity and beauty... but everyone knows the real riches are in the terroir...

Brand new GRAPHICS MODE SELECTOR screen when you start a new run

What this means is that the 2.5D and 3D first-person modes are now out of experimental, and officially in the game. Yes, they are a little janky still, so if you see anything amiss please let me know in the comments below or on Discord.

Then of course we have 12 new community-painted sprites in the game, thanks to the pixel art team - go check out their work on Discord. It's mind-bogglingly amazing work and has made the game look way better than I could have ever imagined, so thank you to the team.

The demo now has a friendlier first hour of play

  • Reworked onboarding: dropped the old dream-sequence tutorial in favour of contextual tips that appear as you actually play

  • Now also teaches descending stairs, sleeping in a bed, and recovering after your first death

  • More to do in the demo: restored the generic quest-givers that had gone missing (thanks to the bug report from our lead playtesters)

And finally of course, various fixes n' polish

(again, thanks to the playtester community on Discord - you know who you are)

  • "Infinite hatchets" weapon-swap duplication bug squashed

  • Gather quests now accept items you're already carrying (hand them in straight from your pack)

  • Context menus and popups no longer get cut off at the screen edge

  • Map-discovery tip no longer fires before you've actually discovered anything

  • Visiting a tavern no longer strips the roofs off town buildings

That's all from the Roguefort team - see you in Next Fest!

Tim
