changedIt’s been a while since our first dev log. During that time, we’ve been focused on completing the core foundation of Rift Tavern. Currently, we’ve reached a stage where most major features are implemented, and we are now shifting our focus to content volume and final balancing.
changed3-Stage Charge & Special Skills : All 12 weapon types now support 3-stage charging. Depending on the charge level, you can unleash completely different attack styles and skills—from Chain Lightning to explosive Arrow Rains.
changedMonsters as "Farming Projectiles" : Use parries and knockbacks to slam enemies into obstacles. This triggers a 'Wall Slam' that deals massive splash damage. Don't waste time breaking crates one by one—harness the enemies to clear rooms and farm resources efficiently.
removedAdvanced AI : Enemies are no longer just mindless targets. They will flank, retreat, and hunt you down. Experience a more realistic hunt with wildlife that requires stamina management to track and catch.
removedTavern Management: You Are No Longer Alone The scale of the tavern has grown, and now you have the team to manage it.
changedUniform Customization : Any outfit the player can wear, the staff can wear too. A tavern run entirely by staff in Goblin costumes? Why not? We know you can’t resist.

"Hello, this is Troll, the developer of Rift Tavern."

It’s been a while since our first dev log. During that time, we’ve been focused on completing the core foundation of Rift Tavern. Currently, we’ve reached a stage where most major features are implemented, and we are now shifting our focus to content volume and final balancing.

We’re almost there. Today, we’d like to introduce some of the key features that will bring the tavern to life.

  1. Mercenary Combat: Weighty Feedback and Strategic Depth Combat is the heart of Rift Tavern. We’ve focused on delivering both tactical fun and visual satisfaction.

  • 3-Stage Charge & Special Skills: All 12 weapon types now support 3-stage charging. Depending on the charge level, you can unleash completely different attack styles and skills—from Chain Lightning to explosive Arrow Rains.

  • Monsters as "Farming Projectiles": Use parries and knockbacks to slam enemies into obstacles. This triggers a 'Wall Slam' that deals massive splash damage. Don't waste time breaking crates one by one—harness the enemies to clear rooms and farm resources efficiently.

  • Advanced AI: Enemies are no longer just mindless targets. They will flank, retreat, and hunt you down. Experience a more realistic hunt with wildlife that requires stamina management to track and catch.

  1. Tavern Management: You Are No Longer Alone The scale of the tavern has grown, and now you have the team to manage it.

  • Staff Management: Recruit the right people from the village board. Each applicant has unique levels, stats, and traits. Choose the best fit for your tavern’s needs.

  • Uniform Customization: Any outfit the player can wear, the staff can wear too. A tavern run entirely by staff in Goblin costumes? Why not? We know you can’t resist.

  • Tray System: You can now carry up to 5 dishes at once on a tray. However, weight matters—more dishes mean slower movement. Balancing speed and efficiency is now a core part of the game.

  1. AtmosphereThe Romance of the Lute Every tavern needs a bard. We’ve added a system that brings both "vibes" and profit.
  • Lute Performance: If you find a moment of peace during service, play the lute. It’s not just for show—performing provides actual benefits, like increasing the eating speed of your customers.

  • Festival Mode: Join wandering bands for an impromptu jam session to trigger 'Festival Mode,' where all negative tavern stats pause and the party takes over.

  • Wild Reactions: At peak performance, customers will jump on tables to dance, and tips will pour in. Even village NPCs will react to your melody with unique dialogue and moves.

These updates are quite massive, so it's hard to cover everything here. Starting next week, we’ll release a weekly [Dev Log] to dive deep into the details of each system, starting with a closer look at our revamped combat.

Thank you for your patience. See you at the tavern soon!
