Hello Community and Survivors!
The development of Return: Unknown continues to progress. Unfortunately, I can't write news updates as often as I would like. However, I occasionally post images and smaller updates on Discord. If you'd like, feel free to stop by anytime: https://discord.gg/8zyKXj9SDr
Designing the world is extremely complex and very time-consuming. I try to pay attention to many details in order to create an experience that can compete with larger studios. It’s a big challenge, but one that I’m happy to continue taking on.
If you have questions or ideas, you can share them with me at any time. If anyone is wondering how you can currently support me: sharing my news or the Steam page helps me tremendously in reaching my goals. It’s also very motivating to see the project being spread further. Even small videos on YouTube or TikTok can help incredibly.
In the images of this news update, I show you some of the first preparations for physics-based interactions in the world. The goal is for players to interact more with their surroundings, for example by being able to knock over barriers or traffic cones. Small details like these contribute a lot to making the world feel more alive and believable.
Another important point is the accessibility of the world. Many buildings are planned to be enterable, including larger buildings or skyscrapers. Not every floor will be completely filled with apartments; instead they will be distributed to keep the world believable and varied.
In the long term, it is also planned that players will be able to claim locations, such as apartments or other areas, by securing them with their own obstacles.
Here I would like to show you a few small insights again. I would love to present even more, but currently a lot of fundamental groundwork is still being prepared before moving on to the many details.
