A lot of the spaces also have small side access areas that if you explore before diving in to the combat of a new area, will give you the advantage, so keep your eyes peeled.

In the month of July while surviving the heat waves we got more code work done and more environment art done for the levels, in fact, all the environment art for the levels is now completed!

Work will now move on to finishing the remaining enemy models, animations, sounds, particles, and then we'll circle back to the levels to polish up all the encounters, balancing, and final optimisation.

Code

This month we updated the the leap attack logic to use root animations for smoother transitions in to and out of the leap attack, this will affect all enemies.

The Dhole enemy was completed, a small eldritch critter that bites your lower regions.

Work also began on the exploding archetype enemy. This blubbering toxic enemy explodes on death of any kind. It is quite slow and weak, and is very susceptible to the stun from the shotgun, so you can tactically kite them to where you need and explode them against other enemies.

Level Design

E2M7 - Ruins of Amaganth

The ruins part of the level was the last part that needed work and a few additional props for the researchers to use on site.

The temple has a main hub chamber with 2 sides and a central vertical area.

The right side has a large open space with moving platforms that you have to use to progress.

The left side is a combat focused heavy challenge area with many traps and perils.

The top part of the central chamber leads to the final boss fight for E2M7.

E2M4 - TEC Mining HQ

The TEC Mining HQ level is a mix of corporate areas, industrial areas, and extensive outside spaces to explore. A lot of the spaces also have small side access areas that if you explore before diving in to the combat of a new area, will give you the advantage, so keep your eyes peeled.

The main objective to is get the power restored to the crane controls which makes it go back and forth to specific platforms allowing the player to cross and progress through the level.
