Heya! It's been a while!

Really sorry for going silent the past three weeks. There's been a lot of things that happened IRL like random power outages in our country due to the Iran war. It often happened during my work time and it has disrupted my work schedule. Another is that my body just decided to rest due to the fatigue of releasing the game. Was legit working non stop from January to our release on April 13 that I had no time to rest. So I took another week to rest up and cure my fatigue. Then last week, I was supposed to make an update for the game, but sadly, I got food poisoned. So I'm only able to update the game now.

Aside from that, I've been struggling with the fact that the EA release has failed. Sadly the game didn't sell enough copies for me to pay off all of my debts that I have accumulated to make the game. I know it's mostly my fault because we have released it without any marketing. And without the necessary fixes, a lot of negative reviews have tanked our review score which affected the sales a lot.

While I still stand that players should have the right to post negative reviews. I hope you forgive me for being depressed by it. As I've struggled and worked hard on the game for the past 3 years making the game and it's pretty painful to get pulled down due to the game's rating. It is what it is.

But, I'm not giving up on the game and still intend on finishing it no matter what happens!

Crimson Glass Forest Dungeons + Difficulties

Steam post imageTook a while, but I've finally completed the dungeons and difficulty 2-5 of the 3rd level of the game, the Crimson Glass Forest!

The dungeons took a while to make as I had a creative block when I was designing them. And the electric lines also had to be optimized.

I have also included some fixes on this patch, you can check them out below. I found that the enemy projectiles were not triggering i-frames too which is why some players get one-shot by enemies. Hopefully it wont happen now!

  • Fixed: Crimson Glass Forest Boss (Xerios) still firing projectiles / have auras when killed

  • Fixed: I-frames not affecting projectiles / environmental damages

  • Fixed: Tamer arrows not hitting bouncing enemies

  • Fixed: After selecting a level, you can still interact with the Elevator

  • Fixed: Items dropped on the HUB will now drop on your feet

  • Fixed: Golden Edge doing double damage on Hybrid Damage

  • Fixed: HP appears damaged when training and item bonuses are calculated

Chapter 4 is currently in development

We are also hard at work making content for Chapter 4 of the game! Our artist, Pixlwalkr is already animating the enemies of the new level. We will be working on it alongside the leftovers of Chapter 3. Do you have any guesses about what will be the theme of this level? All I know is that Chapter 4 is going to be crazy so hope you are ready for it.

Removing the Development Roadmap

Didn't want to do this but we are going to remove the Development Roadmap that we have shown on the Store Page of Relic Abyss. The reason for this is that due to the low morale, I'm not confident that we can meet the exact dates of the content listed there.

Doing this also reduces the pain of not meeting the expectations for players as well as reducing pressure for us. But don't worry, we are still proceeding with the development of the game and keep the roadmap internally for now. All content updates will be announced via steam announcements instead.

Bullet Fest (June 9-16)

Relic Abyss is part of the official Steam Festival: Bullet Fest happening on June 9-16!

We might time the next big update of the game during that time! I'm targeting to finish the Survivors-like update during that time as well as the cards update and the remaining 2 playable characters for Chapter 3!

Chapter 4 will be out once it's finished. I expect it to be done around mid-late July or early August!

Again, thank you so much everyone for still sticking around despite everything. Hopefully I'll stop being a depressed bean and get back to my full power soon. Really sorry for the somewhat depressing update! Will try to be more positive on the next ones!
