Recess Community Update

Hey everyone,

We've been reading your feedback, bug reports, complaints, suggestions, and everything in between. We wanted to give you a quick update on what we're currently working on for Recess.

Our next update is focused on improving the overall experience, fixing long-standing issues, and adding more content for everyone to enjoy.

Bug Fixes & Improvements

One of our biggest priorities right now is fixing gameplay issues that have been affecting matches. This includes work on scoring inconsistencies caused by latency and network delays, along with a variety of other bugs that players have reported since launch.

We're also making improvements to general game stability, matchmaking reliability, and several quality-of-life features that should make matches feel smoother and more consistent.

New Unlockables

We've heard the requests for more customization options. The update will include additional unlockable player colors, giving players more ways to personalize their characters.

We're also reworking the cosmetic pricing system. Our goal is to make unlocking cosmetics feel more rewarding and better balanced across all types of players.

New Content

The playground is about to get a little bigger.

This update currently includes:

  • 2 brand-new maps

  • Several new items

  • A couple of new games

  • Additional cosmetics and unlockables

  • More surprises we'll talk about closer to release

Looking Ahead

We've also seen concerns about certain design decisions and features that don't feel quite right yet. We want you to know that we're listening.

Recess is still growing, and we're committed to improving it over time. Every report, suggestion, and piece of feedback helps us figure out what needs attention next.

For those who don't know, Recess is the first game I've ever developed. There isn't a large studio behind it—just one developer trying to build the best game possible while learning along the way. That doesn't mean bugs and issues get a free pass, but it does mean that sometimes fixes take time as I work through them one by one.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to play, report issues, suggest ideas, and stick with us while we continue improving the game.

We'll have more to share soon.

See you on the playground.
