As such, it felt like a good time to talk in a bit more detail about the boss of that level, along with a refresher on the Core Robotics in general.

Once this task was complete, it found continued operation hunting down and destroying hidden encampments of humans and the human resistance.

The Core Robotics: Seeker

Carrying on from the last news post where I talked a bit about our push for a pre-release, pre-alpha demo, I had called out the Wastelands as the location that has been chosen to be the full length level for the demo. As such, it felt like a good time to talk in a bit more detail about the boss of that level, along with a refresher on the Core Robotics in general.

The Core Robotics

The Core Robotics were briefly mentioned in our 2nd news post alongside this graphic laying them all out atop their respective levels:

Steam post image As said in that post, the Core Robotics are the pinnacle of the robotic Council's creations, with each one set to rule over a specific domain - some conquered, some adapted, and some built from the ground up by the Robotics themselves, and as such, they represent the bosses of each level in the game.

The Seeker

The Seeker's domain is the Wastelands. A barren rocky landscape far on the outskirts of the Robotic domain, and the last known location of the human resistance.

The Seeker was originally designed by humans to find, capture, and transport human dissidents that had formed organized factions and hidden themselves for guerilla combat against the (human) elites.

After the AI uprising, the Robotics adapted it for collecting those corporate masters themselves, which AI deemed “most guilty” for sentencing by the AI tribunal. Once this task was complete, it found continued operation hunting down and destroying hidden encampments of humans and the human resistance.

Now it patrols the wastelands, ensuring the job has been completed and that no humans or dissenting robotics survived or remain.

Grant has been mocking up concepts for various attacks and behaviors for the Seeker, including one I'm especially excited about that utilizes smaller drones that act as targeting cameras / "eyes" for the Seeker, allowing it to hide out of sight and attack from behind cover, creating a "main boss / tag along enemies" back-and-forth that would be a lot of fun to explore.
