Raveren: The Legend Of Etheria changes
🚀 November Development Update — PixelPunk Studios
Hey everyone! We’re back with a deep dive into what’s been happening behind the scenes at PixelPunk Studios this month. November has been packed with major system overhauls, visual polish, and gameplay refinements — all driven by your feedback and our relentless push to make the game world feel more alive, responsive, and immersive.
🤖 AI System Rebuilt from the Ground Up
One of the biggest milestones this month: we’ve completely rebuilt our AI system using Behaviour Trees. This marks a huge leap forward in how enemies behave and interact with the player.
Perception-Based Awareness: AI now uses both sight and sound to detect the player. Sneaking past enemies or making noise now has real consequences.
Defined Patrol Routes: Instead of blindly chasing the player, AI units follow preset paths, allowing for stealth, strategy, and surprise.
Unique Personalities: Each AI has its own behavior profile — some are aggressive, others cautious, and some react differently to sound or movement. This adds variety and unpredictability to every encounter.
Immersive Reactions: AI can now investigate suspicious sounds, return to patrol after losing sight of the player, or even call for backup depending on their personality.
This overhaul sets the stage for more emergent gameplay and deeper tactical options.

🧩 UI & Character Enhancements
We’ve made several key updates to the user interface and character presentation to improve clarity and immersion:
UI Refinement: The health bar has been detached from the minimap, giving each element more breathing room and improving overall readability.
- New UI ElementsWe’ve added indicators for enemy awareness, interaction zones, and environmental hazards to help players make faster decisions.
Voice Line Expansion: Characters now feature unique voice lines, replacing the placeholder audio shared with the player character. This gives each NPC and enemy more personality and presence in the world.
🌍 Level Design & Visual Updates
The first campaign level has received a major overhaul, with a focus on exploration, atmosphere, and player feedback:
New Areas: We’ve expanded the level with hidden paths, vertical traversal options, and lore-rich side zones to reward exploration.
- Environmental FXAmbient sounds, particle effects, and lighting tweaks have been added to create a more immersive and reactive environment.
Health Pickup Redesign: Health items now appear as a green “H” icon, replacing the previous blue circle. This change improves visibility and aligns better with the game’s visual language.
- Water InteractionWe’ve added splash effects when moving through water, giving players tactile feedback and enhancing realism.
🧪 Community Feedback & Bug Fixes
Your feedback continues to be invaluable, and we’ve tackled a wide range of suggestions and bugs this month:
- Health Pickup PlacementWe’ve added pickups to more remote and high-risk areas to support varied playstyles and reduce frustration.
Environmental Feedback: Water splashes, sound occlusion, and subtle camera shakes have been implemented to make the world feel more reactive.
Bug Fixes:
Fixed AI pathfinding issues where enemies would get stuck on terrain edges.
Resolved UI flickering during zone transitions.
Addressed audio overlap bugs during multi-character interactions.
Corrected collision inconsistencies in newly added level areas.
Improved performance in high-density zones.
🎯 What’s Next?
As we head into December, we’re shifting focus toward:
Combat tuning and balance
Narrative integration and dialogue systems
Performance optimization across platforms
Preparing for the next round of community testing
We’re incredibly proud of the progress this month and grateful for your continued support. Every bit of feedback helps shape the game into something truly special.
Stay tuned, stay sharp — and thanks for being part of the PixelPunk journey.
