Open Beta - New Update, New Items

In our latest update we have added three new items alongside various fixes and tweaks. Find matchbooks with limited matches to create fire. Matches can fail to light, and you can ruin them by getting them wet.

removedFind matchbooks with limited matches to create fire. Matches can fail to light, and you can ruin them by getting them wet. Keep them out of the rain, and don't be surprised if they no longer work after a swim in a river.
changedYour trusty Ferro Rod from previous builds is now a rare item on every map.
addedAlso new is the Oil Lamp , which is an alternative to the Flashlight. You can use the Oil Lamp to cast light all around you. Perfect for a cozy camp in the woods, or for building a fire.
changedLast but not least, we have made improvements to indications of impending death due to dehydration or malnutrition. You will still die, but less abruptly than before.

Lighters are a more reliable fire source and a step up from matches, but require fuel. They also double as a weak light source if you dropped or forgot your flashlight. Which you would never do... right?

Patch Notes 0.19627

Gameplay & Survival

  • Hunger and thirst no longer cause instant death

  • Poison now has permanent side effects

  • Fire effects on the player have been reduced

  • Escape screen has a timer

Items & Inventory

  • Added lighter, matchbook, and oil lamps

  • Inspecting water containers now shows capacity

  • Inventory tooltips are now context-specific (Eat, Drink, Open, etc.)

World & Environment

  • Added audio for rivers

  • Fixed rocks so players no longer fall through them

  • Fixed hiking stops having higher temperature than the world

  • Fixed cabin roofs breaking when first discovered

  • More randomness in item spawns, cabin durability, and cabin quality outside exploration zones
