Problematic changes
The Hall of Infamy, Rebuilt
The Hall of Infamy has been completely redesigned.
The same three leaderboards, name controls, personal standing, and refresh button remain, now arranged like an actual cursed ledger instead of paperwork discovered behind a radiator.
The leaderboard no longer moves or jitters while you are trying to read it. The dead may wander. The interface may not.
Improved text size, contrast, and typography throughout the Hall. Your ranking should be humiliating for its contents, not its legibility.
Opening the Hall no longer warps the menu background or causes the rest of the screen to shift strangely. The curse is now contained to the appropriate room.
The in-game Hall and the Galactrex website now use the same canonical leaderboard data. They are no longer maintaining separate versions of the truth.
Switching between boards remains instant during each visit, while Refresh now properly consults the live ledger again.
The Ledger Learned About Fraud
Leaderboard submissions are now tied to verified player identities instead of trusting credentials that could be extracted from the game.
We have stopped leaving the vault key inside the vault.
Online results now require matching confirmation from the people who actually played.
Hosts can no longer nominate themselves for greatness without a witness. Democracy survives another patch.
Rematches now receive unique match records, preventing a new victory from being mistaken for the previous game and quietly discarded.
Share My Scores is now genuinely controlled per player.
One person opting out no longer silences, or publishes, the entire lobby.
Queued leaderboard results are now stored more safely across crashes and multiple running instances.
Your victories should survive closing the game, even if your dignity does not.
Offline victories against the Hard chess engine no longer submit new global scores.
Results generated entirely on one player’s machine cannot be proven trustworthy. The Hard Slayers board remains as a historical monument to a more trusting age.
Players using v1.0.0.3 must update before new leaderboard results can be recorded.
The old version speaks a retired dialect of the ledger.
One More Net Beneath the Net
Added another recovery path for the rare case where the game knows you have cards, but your screen disagrees.
The host now checks both your actual hand and the visible card interface, then redeals the hand when either has clearly vanished.
The game has become increasingly suspicious of empty hands.
Correctly.
A Less Hostile Storm
Added a Thunder Flashes toggle under Graphics.
Turning it off removes the bright lightning flashes from the main menu while keeping the rain and atmosphere intact.
The cathedral remains miserable, just more considerate.
Fewer Imaginary Deaths
Fixed the crash reporter occasionally treating editor sessions, automated tests, another running copy of the game, or a normal shutdown still in progress as a player crash.
The dashboard was seeing ghosts.
For once, the game was more haunted than the players.
