Repeated intro

Greetings players! We're here with an update to let everyone know what we've been working on behind the scenes.

addedNew Main Menu BackgroundWe're trying a new idea for the game's main menu. We've replaced the old castle with a more zoomed-out view of the arena. The camera slowly pans around the arena while random battles play out.
changedNew Main Menu BackgroundWe've also reworked the game's scene management, resulting in much faster loading times between the main menu and the in-game table and arena. This should reduce cases where players with slower computers join games late.
addedProfile Page Updates and FixesThe game now tracks your records for each game mode and displays them on the profile page. We've also reworked the game info mouse-over panel to handle the new Brawl mode, where 100+ players can appear in the same game. Your own name is now highlighted in gold in all game modes, making it easier to see where you placed.
changedNew Collision PhysicsThere were a couple of bugs in the game's previous collision physics, including one that created an attractive force instead of a repelling force during unit collisions. This could cause units to ball up instead of being pushed outward when forces were applied. The physics system has been rebuilt to look smoother and behave more like real collisions. Bombers, Rock Hurlers, and Cyclops are affected.
fixedCombat System Bug FixesWe've fixed a number of outstanding combat system bugs, including some reported by players during the demo and others we discovered internally.
fixedCombat System Bug FixesFixed a severe unintended behavior change to ranged units that caused them to walk forward between attacks, even while locked onto the same target

New Main Menu Background

We're trying a new idea for the game's main menu. We've replaced the old castle with a more zoomed-out view of the arena. The camera slowly pans around the arena while random battles play out.

We've also reworked the game's scene management, resulting in much faster loading times between the main menu and the in-game table and arena. This should reduce cases where players with slower computers join games late.

Profile Page Updates and Fixes

The game now tracks your records for each game mode and displays them on the profile page. We've also reworked the game info mouse-over panel to handle the new Brawl mode, where 100+ players can appear in the same game. Your own name is now highlighted in gold in all game modes, making it easier to see where you placed.

New Collision Physics

There were a couple of bugs in the game's previous collision physics, including one that created an attractive force instead of a repelling force during unit collisions. This could cause units to ball up instead of being pushed outward when forces were applied. The physics system has been rebuilt to look smoother and behave more like real collisions. Bombers, Rock Hurlers, and Cyclops are affected.

Combat System Bug Fixes

We've fixed a number of outstanding combat system bugs, including some reported by players during the demo and others we discovered internally.

  • Fixed a severe unintended behavior change to ranged units that caused them to walk forward between attacks, even while locked onto the same target

  • Fixed an issue where, when two players both played the Marksmen alliance, one player would unfairly get to attack first. They now attack simultaneously, and units that die during the first volley cannot attack during subsequent volleys

  • Fixed a determinism bug in the combat simulation caused by the Assassin Leap effect

  • Fixed two memory leaks that caused the game's RAM usage to increase as more battles were played

New mode progress and more!

Progress has been made on an unrevealed mode in addition to more things we're saving to reveal later!

Thanks for reading and we look forward to getting the game in player's hands again!
