One Year Development Update!

It’s hard to believe, but a year has passed since we first announced Poker Warlords to the world. Time flies when you’re deep in the trenches of game dev (and when the code compiles on the first try... sometimes). We’ve been hard at work and we’ve got a lot to show for it. Grab your favorite beverage (we recommend something celebratory) and let’s take a look at what’s been happening behind the scenes!

What We’ve Accomplished This Year 🛠️

💾 Steam Integration & Closed Beta

We used to send zip files around like it was 2004…those days are behind us! Your MMR, coins, and game histories are now tied directly to your Steam account. No more manual updates, just smooth gaming.

🖥️ Cross-Play on Multiple Platforms

Whether you’re playing on Windows, Linux, or Steam Deck, you can battle it out with your friends. Steam Deck players, we see you and think Poker Warlords is going to be your new favorite game on the deck!

🎨 Art Refresh + Custom Assets

Goodbye placeholders, hello beautiful custom art! From avatars to units, Poker Warlords has been leveling up its aesthetic game across the board.

📚 Tutorial Mode

We know learning a new game can be an undertaking. That’s why we built a snappy five-minute tutorial to get you ready to crush your opponents in no time.

🤖 Custom Discord Bot

Our bot isn’t just chilling in your server—it’s running live leaderboards and paving the way for even deeper Discord integrations. Maybe one day it’ll even make memes (don’t hold us to that).

🎶 Professional Music

Our new tracks slap. Big thanks to our composer Oscar Gorman-Tysoe for giving Warlords the epic soundtrack it deserves.

✨ Animations & Customizations

The core of the game is ready to go. Now our biggest priority has been to spruce it up with updated animations, effects, and customizations. We’ve been working on this in a number of ways, including:

Beyond all the in-game updates, we’ve also been running closed beta sessions and demoing Warlords at local dev meet ups and indie game nights. We also presented Warlords at our first gaming festival, PHL Gaming, in Philadelphia this past September!

The next big thing to keep an eye on is our upcoming demo date! We’re polishing up the experience so you can share Poker Warlords with your friends.

Backend updates to keep things running like the World Series of Poker. Even more animations and customizations. In-game tournaments—because we all love bragging rights. Continuing to introduce new cards so each battle stays fresh and exciting.
