Character System Update (New Feature)

A new character selection system has been added:

• Choose from 5 unique characters (3 male / 2 female)

• More characters will be added in future updates

New Feature:

• You can now change your character anytime using the dresser in your room

• No need to start a new game

Additional improvements:

• Your selected character now appears in battle scenes

• Character updates also apply when returning from space and other events

Blackjack Minigame (New Content)

You can now play Blackjack inside the game:

• Earn in-game currency by playing

• Includes a VERY basic “How to Play” paragraph

• More features and improvements planned

This marks the beginning of a new Game Center area in the castle map.

Also planned:

• Immersive Mode → Full Japanese guide

• Study Mode → English support guide

Steam Deck & PC Improvements

Gameplay is now fully no-typing focused:

• Select answers instead of typing

• Improved compatibility with Steam Deck

You can now:

• Clear Hiragana & Katakana Gyms via quizzes

• Play NazoNazo riddles in the cave

• Please join the Discord if you find bugs and other glitches so I can make Playnese fully supported for the Steam Deck as requested

Exploration Update

• New ladders added throughout the game

• Can lead to:

  • Rooftops

  • Secret areas

  • Hidden loot

More secrets will be added over time.

Music Room Update

New songs added:

• 傘 = かさ = Umbrella

• 山で一人 = やま で ひとり = Alone in the Mountains

• 寿司 = すし = Sushi

Performance & Gameplay Improvements

• Improved performance in the Castle area

• All typing-based events removed

Other Improvements

• New bookshelf and dresser added to your room

• Improved furigana alignment for better readability

• Reduced footstep sound volume

• Removed selfie feature (replaced by character system)

• Added new non-AI paintings (placeholder art being replaced over time)

• New Skill Tree background (countryside theme)

• Added on-screen “F” button UI art

• Updated Hiragana & Katakana Gym boards

• Player is no longer assigned a fixed name

• House name display removed
