Pitch accent is an important topic for many learners, so I want to make sure it’s done right rather than rushed.

Story Library & Study Tracking Update

The Stories Room / Library has received a new study tracking system to make it easier to follow your progress while learning Japanese.

Players can now visually mark completed or known stories with a ✔ check mark, similar to the Kanji Room system.

New additions include:

  • Story completion check marks

  • Amount of known stories added to the Scorecard

The Scorecard can currently be accessed from the hallway PC.

More tracking systems and progression features are planned for future updates.

New JLPT N5 Stories Added

New Stories

  • [JLPT N5] 友達の店 = ともだち の みせ = A Friend’s Shop

  • [JLPT N5] 雨の日 = あめ の ひ = A Rainy Day

Each story includes:

  • Japanese reading practice

  • Voice audio

  • Quizzes

There were many stories written than did not make this week's update in time. Those will be added in future updates. (For Kana and all JLPT levels)

Spider Cave Exploration Update

The small island area has expanded with a small new Spider Cave.

Players can now enter the cave and encounter larger spider enemies.

New Additions

  • Enterable Spider Cave

  • Bigger spider enemy variants

  • New guarded item reward

  • Updated battle backgrounds matching map areas

  • New battle animations and sound effects

Balance adjustments were also made:

  • The outside cave spider encounter now contains 3 spiders instead of 4

  • Previous battle difficulty was considered too hard

More caves, enemies, and hidden areas are planned for future updates.

Music Room Update

New songs added to the Music Room:

  • 助けて = たすけて = Help!

  • 会いたい = あいたい = Want to Meet

Additional songs already in development.

Fixes & Improvements

  • Fixed an issue where background sound would mostly stop after the BBQ event

  • Fixed incorrect art appearing during the Castle Trader event

Other Changes

  • Patreon link added to the Main Menu for players who want to support development further

Development continues with weekly updates, new study systems, exploration content, enemies, and JLPT material.

Thanks for playing PLAYNESE and helping shape the game through feedback and support.

See you in next week's update!
