Update v0.8.12
Big Cargo Trucks Arrive
Another big update is here, and this one brings something many of you have been waiting for.
Trucks.
Big, heavy, driveable cargo trucks with massive trunk space are finally entering the wasteland.
This update starts a new vehicle layer in Plains of Pain. Not just one new vehicle, but the beginning of a truck system that we want to keep expanding with more truck variations in upcoming updates.
For us, this is one of those updates that feels really special. We keep working, testing, listening, adjusting, and pushing because we can see the game becoming stronger with every step. And when the community keeps asking for something, keeps giving ideas, keeps sharing what would make the wasteland better, we want to answer that call whenever we can.
So here it is.
The first wave of big cargo trucks is now rolling into Plains of Pain.
This update introduces the first two trucks and this is only the beginning.
Main Highlight
New Driveable Truck Layer
We are adding a new driveable truck layer focused on large cargo transport.
These trucks are built for players who love hauling loot, moving resources, supporting bases, preparing long trips, and transporting half of the wasteland in one run.
Loot goblins, this one is for you.
The current truck stats, including cargo trunk capacity, are set for this first release and we plan to keep adjusting them based on community feedback.
So please test them, push them, overload them, upgrade them, lose them, hijack them, and tell us how they feel.
Dustborns Truck
The Dustborns Truck can be obtained through multiple paths.
You can buy a Request Cargo Order from traders and then call the truck when you are near the signal of The Network from Repeater Towers.
You can also find the request order in rare loot.
And of course, if you see a Dustborns Truck driving through the wasteland or towns, you can try to take it by force.
But be careful.
Hijacking a Dustborns Truck will cause painful reputation loss with Dustborns, so this path is not without consequences.
Bandit Truck
The Bandit Truck can now be found driving mainly through the wasteland.
You can attack it, stop it, and hijack it for yourself.
But do not expect the bandits to just hand it over.
After the truck is stopped, defenders can jump out and protect their cargo, so be ready for a fight before you claim your prize.

Truck Upgrades
Trucks can be upgraded like other vehicles.
You can improve:
Max speed
Acceleration
Handling
Fuel consumption
Hitpoints
Armor
And most importantly:
Cargo trunk space
Truck cargo space can be expanded up to 1000 kg / 1000 L, giving players a huge amount of room for transporting resources, loot, building materials, and everything else you want to move between your base and the wasteland.
This should make long loot runs, base building, trading, and large resource transport much more satisfying.
Patch Notes
Improved CPU and RAM performance related to NPC AI, so the game should run smoother and provide better FPS in busy areas.
Reskinned OGD Distance Eater vehicle.
What Is Next
As we said last time, we want to keep riding this new content wave.
More content is coming.
Next, we want to bring more truck variations, including OGD trucks, TOS trucks, and one more surprise truck that we want to keep hidden for now.
We will also continue polishing, tweaking, and balancing based on your feedback.
On top of that, we are working on one very cool feature for Custom World Settings that should be loved by players who prefer a more arcade and relaxed playstyle.
But for now, let’s keep that one as a surprise.
Thank You
Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
Every update, every idea, every bug report, every discussion, every screenshot, and every crazy wasteland story helps us shape Plains of Pain into something better.
This truck update is another step toward a bigger, deeper, and more alive post apo sandbox. We are excited to see what you will do with these new machines, how you will use them, and what feedback you will bring back from the road.
If this update gives you a new reason to load up the truck, hit the road, and disappear into the wasteland, leaving a Steam review helps more survivors discover Plains of Pain and join the journey ❤️
And remember
This is just the beginning.
