Plains of Pain changes
Update v0.8.11
PVE First
The climb is real.
Even during the summer season, we are still here, still working, still listening, still pushing Plains of Pain forward. And honestly, we feel more motivated than ever.
The community is gradually growing. The game is getting better with every update. More players are joining the wasteland, more feedback is coming in, and every new patch gives us that feeling that this world is slowly becoming what we always dreamed it could be.
We sometimes joke that we cannot even take a proper holiday, because we would probably just sit there thinking about the game anyway. When you finally work on something you truly love, it does not feel like work anymore. It feels like destiny calling. Like a commitment you are happy to carry.
That is how Plains of Pain feels to us.
So here we are again, bringing another update, shaped by our plans, your feedback, and our shared journey through this crazy post apo sandbox wasteland.
And this time, one of the biggest steps is simple but very important.
PVE First.
Main Highlight
PVE First and PVP On or Off
We added a new option in difficulty settings that allows players to disable PVP damage.
When PVP is disabled, players can still hit each other, but they will not deal damage to each other.
This is the first foundation stone for future PVE and PVP cohabitation in Plains of Pain.
Players who want classic happy co-op can now enjoy the wasteland without friendly fire. Players who prefer PVE servers can play with more confidence, knowing that other players cannot ambush them or ruin their journey through direct player damage.
This is an important step for us because Plains of Pain should support different types of survivors.
Some want danger from everywhere.
Some want to fight the world together.
Now we can start building better support for both.
Hobo Hauler Becomes Buildable Steam post image
The Hobo Hauler vehicle can now be built by players after finding or buying its blueprint.
This gives players another way to unlock and use one of the most useful early transport vehicles in the game.
We also added an almost built Hobo Hauler prefab to the Frank and Ron starting area, so players can experience their first vehicle much sooner.
This prefab will appear only when creating a new game world, and the player who finishes building it first will become its owner.
New Weapon
Nailgun Mk2
The Nailgun gets a stronger brother.
Nailgun Mk2 is the next version of the recently added Nailgun, designed for players who enjoy silent close range combat.
It comes with:
Extended magazine
Faster fire rate
It is a great choice for close combat survivors who prefer quiet, fast, and nasty solutions.
Gameplay and Balance Changes
Slowed down health loss during survival struggle on higher difficulties
This should make difficult survival situations feel more manageable while still keeping pressure on the player.
Fixes
Fixed issue where vehicle wrecks could not be salvaged after being looted
Fixed multiplayer issue where co-op games did not correctly restrict different game versions
Fixed firearm magazine size not updating correctly from prefix and suffix bonuses on weapons looted before previous updates
Older weapons with magazine bonuses should now show their bonus correctly
What Is Next
We are now riding the new content wave.
That means content, content, content.
New things to find, new things to fight, new things to build, new reasons to travel, and new moments that make the wasteland feel alive.
At the same time, we will keep doing what we always do. Watching how the community plays, gathering feedback, balancing, fixing, polishing, and improving things together with you along the way.
The wasteland keeps moving.
And so do we.
Thank You
Thank you for being here with us and for helping this world grow update by update.
Every message, every report, every discussion, every screenshot, every video, and every review gives us fuel to keep going. Plains of Pain exists because we refused to let the dream die, but it grows because you are walking this road with us.
If this update makes your co-op journey better, or if you enjoy seeing Plains of Pain grow step by step, leaving a Steam review helps more survivors discover the wasteland and become part of this journey ❤️
And remember
This is just the beginning.
